How do you feel about the Charter School Movement in the USA

How do you feel about the Charter School Movement in the USA?
Do think it is a positive movement? Are you curious about it and want to know more?

Let's be realistic, the inner-city public school systems are failing. Test scores in grades 3, 6, 8, and 10 are lower than they've ever been. It's time to look at what alternative educational programs like Charter Schools seem to be doing right...

Positives: * Opportunity for educators to experiment with new ideas; if successful, these ideas could benefit all students. * Creates some truly wonderful, life-changing schools. Negatives: * Creates some truly terrible schools. * Destabilizes the existing educational system, sometimes with little payoff. * Drains resources out of public schools and eventually increases the inequity between good and bad schools. Long story short: I support the best of the charter schools, but I believe that they have a responsibility to share their successes with the school system as a whole.

hi Guy XD high school in usa

hi Guy XD high school in usa..?
hi guy I'm italian and i live in Tuscany... i know that american high school are very different from here in italy..( in USA are better i think XD) but i want to know if the normal high school are like the film high school musical.. are like the film ? people are like them of the film, the situation are the same,,, in conclusion what are the similarities an differences between reality and HSM fiction? sorry for my terrible english.... kiss

I've heard that high schools are nothing like the movies. I wouldn't know because tomorrow will be my first day in high school. By the way, your english is better than most americans :)

High school in usa (AFS)

High school in usa (AFS)?
okay so i´m a girl (16) from Norway and i´m thinking about going to usa on high school there....i was thinking about the organisation: AFS but i´m not sure that i really want this.....sometimes i really want to go but other times i don´t want to. Do anybody have any tips of how to choose?

My family had a good experience with AFS, as did our school for many years, but that was a long time ago. Maybe you could compare several of the organizations that do this....

Best high school in USA

Best high school in USA?????
i am Vietnamese, i want to go to USA to study in high school. But i don't know what is bese high schools ? help me please.(tuition/year? city? Admission condition?)
