OK. of course we go to school fall, winter, spring and have break during the summer. except for some places in like California that have year round schooling but i don't know anything about that. Elementary starts when you are 5. Kindergarten Grade 1 Grade 2 Grade 3 Grade 4 Grade 5 you get a different teacher every year in elementary school. Most people are 11 when they graduate. Here where I am in elementary school the student teacher ratio is about 16:1 Then there is middle school. Grade 6 Grade 7 Grade 8 In most school for middle school you go to multiple classes a day with diff. teachers per subject. Like I am in Grade 8 and I go to 7 a day. In some school Grade 6 is part of elementary and in a few that is no middle school. Elementary is K-6 and High is 7-12. My cousin lives in New York and hers is like that. Where I am student teacher ratio is about 28:1 High School Grade 9 Grade 10 Grade 11 Grade 12 It's like middle school but harder, of course. and sports are more serious. 9th graders are called Freshman, 10th are called Sophomores (Sof-mores), 11th are called Juniors, and 12th are Seniors. Not sure about student teacher ratio but its probably similar to middle schools. Private school student teacher ratios go down as low as about 8:1 or 10:1 and... yea that's it.

I'm going to not answer your question and just tell you about schools in the UK, because i'm bored :) Primary school (age 5-10) You get primary 1-7,different teacher each year but always the same class. Secondary School (age 11-16, you have to stay at school until you are 16. you have the option to stay on until you're 18) you get S1-S6 and you can leave school in S4 :)

Schools in the U.S. are divided into grades (1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade.) You get the picture right? They go from Kindergarten (K) to 12th grade, when you graduate from high school. Which is a really big deal here. The Public School System in my area (Texas) looks like this: Elementary School (K-4) The age range is generally 5-10 years old. Intermediate School (5-6) Most kids are 10-13. Junior High School (7-8) 13-14 years old High School (9-12) 14-18 years old. Though there are sometimes older students. 21 is the oldest at my old school. I'm assuming you're at the high school age, so I'm going to talk a lot in high school. Now High School is much more complicated than any of the other schools. Different grades are called different names: 9th grade - Freshman 10th grade - Sophomore 11th grade - Junior 12th grade - Senior Some high school have a separate part of the campus called 9th grade campus for Freshman only to kind of help them get integrated into high school life. I graduated from high school in May of this year. I'll walk you through one of my typical days. I had seven classes. Four core classes (Math, English, History & Science) and three elevtives, most people pick foreign languages, psychology, physical education. I should tell you that in high school you have graduation requirements. In Texas you have to have 26 credits and different classes you have to take. I'm going to use Texas because I live there. It lasts for about an hour and then you move onto your second class, and then third and fourth. Most schools have lunch at fifth period. At my school there were four different lunch periods. Depending on where your classroom was located, that's when you had lunch. For example, My fifth period class was in room 112. Since it was in a 100 room, I had A lunch. After fifth period you move onto sixth and seventh. Then your school day is done at around 2:00 or 3:00 pm.

to be honist it is absolutely horrible. The anti-bully system does not work past the first few grades. The teachers profile the kids. the kids who do sports amarican foot ball or cheerleading r treated better then the kids who don't. If you have anything abnormal about u, they will mess with you unmercylessly for it. Half of what the teachers try to teach you is review. They basicly want you to be a tame pet. Do exactly as they say to the letter, or be punishd. If they do anything mean to u, tough luck. Sorry to tell u this but for lack of a better term, amarican schools r hell.

Well, everyone described really well tthrough the different grades and such. I'll write out my typical day. I have a block scheduale, which means every other day, i have a different scheduale. There are "A" days and "B" days. Ex. monday: A sched. Tuesday: B Sched. Wednesday: A Sched. So on and so forth. TYPICAL "A" DAY 8:25-9:45: Physical Eduaction. (play sprts like soccer, volleyball, and ultimate frisbee) 9:50-11:10: Biology (Science about living things) 11:15-11:45: Advisement (like a study hall where you can work on homework) 11:50-12:20: Lunch 12:25-1:45: Geometry(Math) 1:50-3:10: English (Reading and Writing) TYPICAL "B" DAY 8:25-9:45: World Geography (Social Studies) 9:50-11:10: Spanish 11:15-11:45: Advisement (like a study hall where you can work on homework) 11:50-12:20: Lunch 12:25-1:45: Geometry(I take geometry every day because I'm bad at it haha) 1:50-3:10: Introduction to Agriculture (its an elective class) Elective classes include: Foods, Clothing, Industrial Arts, Art, Spanish, Business, Band, Choir Agriculture, and more. You can have 2 or 3, depending on your scheduale. There are Also many clubs and sports my school offers. Some of them are: Soccer, Volleyball, Softball, Dance, Cheerleading, Golf, Rugby, Baseball. Most schools have Football, but our school is too small. CLubs include Drama club, art club, FCCLA (where you learn about cooking, cleaning, sewing, and child care), FFA (where you learn about agriculture), DCP/SAFE (promotes things like anti violence, no drugs or achohol, and such), Creative Writing, Scholastic Bowl, WYSE (test prep), NHS (National Honor Society, for student with exceptional grades), and more. Certain Grades have certain class requirements. For example, in 7th grade, we hhad to take a class on drug and allchohol abuse. In 8th, we had to take a Sex Ed class, which taught Abstinence only. (That is a big debate in schools here: whether schools should teach absitinence programs or safe sex programs). Senior Year (grade 12) We must take a first aid course. HIGH SCHOOL: Every year in the fall, we have a "Homecoming". That is a week of just celebrating over nothing. We have spirit days were you dress up, field days, where you basically have a picnic filled with water balloon fights and good food. There are Football games(in my school we do a volleyball and soccer game). And then that saturday there is a formal dance. Everyone has so much fun. All grades 9-12 can go. In the spring, we have prom. Its way more formal than Homecoming. Girls where big dresses and guys where suits and ties. Its just a big dance. Prom is only for Juniors and Seniors (Grade 11 and 12), but your date can be of any age. Each Grade has Class officers (President, V.P., Secretary, and Treasurer)...They are in change of the class. Ex: Junior class officers are in charge of organizing fundraisers to raise money for the junior prom. There is also a student council, or student government for the whole school. They are in charge of things like homecoming, regualr dances, purchasing stuff for the school, and other things nessesary.

every school is different. basically we have 12 grades. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12th grade. we also have kindergarten, which comes before 1st grade. and preschool (optional) which comes before kindergarten. we have different schools for the different grades. most of the time, preschool has its own school. then, we have a school for kindergarten through 5th (elementary school). a school for 6th, 7th, 8th (middle school), and a school for 9th-12th (high school). once again, every school is different so this can change. preschool- 4 and 5 yr olds kindergarten- 5 and 6 yr olds 1st- 6 and 7 yr olds 2nd- 7 and 8 yr olds 3rd- 8 and 9 yr olds 4th- 9 and 10 yr olds 5th- 10 and 11 yr olds 6th- 11 and 12 yr olds 7th- 12 and 13 yr olds 8th- 13 and 14 yr olds 9th (aka freshman)- 14 and 15 yr olds 10th (aka sophomore)- 15 and 16 yr olds 11th (aka junior)- 16 and 17 yr olds 12 (aka senior)- 17 and 18 yr olds at the end of the school year, you take a final test, generally called an achievement test. if you pass it, you progress to the next grade. if you do not pass it, your teachers can determine if they believe you should pass to the next grade or retake a grade. in high school you take many other tests such as the SAT. after you graduate 12th grade you go on to college if you choose so, which is a whole different story. hope i helped :)
