There is a movement in many communities to have prayer in school. Everybody praying together instead of just their private prayers which of course they can do at any time. Someone will have to come up with the prayer. If it passes anywhere, and I hope it never does, then my choice is Wicca

that doesnt make any sense. why would there be prayers in public schools, ESP a prayer of ONE relig. when many public schools have lots of kids w/ diff or no religs. what about the ppl who dont believe in praying?

None. because of the whole separation between church and state thing, I believe it was written in the single most important document in the entire history of the united states. Maybe you've heard of it its called the constitution. No this is a terrible idea and if liberty and justice have anything to do with it it will not pass.

None it shouldn't exist. Violation of Church and state separation few people want this in reality quit representing your minority opinion as popular. Your using the usual republican technique. Edit Satan- Satanism would be my first choice too if this idea would be so popular lets see how the fundys like that.

How about a prayer service at work too? You don't want to stop at just children. Although children are the easiest to indoctrinate and control. Pesky adults ask pesky questions with their pesky logic. It would take a Christian fundamentalist government to reinstate cooperative prayer in schools. That said it would be a very general Christian prayer. Who will come up with it? The Reverend Al Sharpton. It will be a great show of racial inclusion and the Christians will be praised! I'm beginning to think that Creationism in school should be taught alongside evolution but only in mockery of it when compared to scientific data contradicting the bogus theory of clay-man and rib-woman.

Why Satanism of course! We don't pray though, so it will just be ritual... Of course, the classes with good looking female teachers could use them as alters.. (A nude woman is often used in place of an alter in Satanism) So, how do you think that will fly?

As freedom of religion is enshrined in the 1st amendment to the constitution, it wouldn't be possible to write one that wouldn't involve at least some children being forced to pray to a god they don't believe in. It's a ridiculous idea and violates the constitution. Schools are for education. If people want their children to be able to join in public prayer they can do that in church, temple, synagogue, mosque or wherever.

Prayer is a one on one conversation. Why would you want someone else to write your innermost that you discuss with your Creator. Jesus gave us some good admonition when he gave us the model to go by known as the Lord's Prayer. Notice the verses just before that prayer. (Matthew 6:5-8) . . .. 6 You, however, when you pray, go into your private room and, after shutting your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; then your Father who looks on in secret will repay you. 7 But when praying, do not say the same things over and over again, just as the people of the nations do, for they imagine they will get a hearing for their use of many words. 8 So, do not make yourselves like them, for God YOUR Father knows what things YOU are needing before ever YOU ask him.

Since public schools are run by the Government and there is suppose to be a separation of Church and state (see constitution/bill of rights) than it probably would never happen. Thanks for the vote for Wicca, but I think it should be the choice of the student and allowed that the student has the right to pray or not.
