In USA Schools what do the terms Freshman, Sophmore, Junior and Senior mean?
I go to school in the UK, and I'll be going into year 11 when I get back to school (age 15/16), which one of those would I be in?

2 :
freshman - grade 9 sophomore - 10 junior -11 senior 12 year 11 is grade 10 in USA schools so i'm sure you'll be a sophomore
3 :
Freshman is 9th grade, Sophomore is 10th grade, Junior is 11th grade, and Senior is 12th grade. You're gonna be a Junior. :)
4 :

We have this also in Canada. They mean grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 of secondary school. So u would be 11 which is Junior.
6 :

7 :
you will be a junior. freshman- grade 9 sophomore- grade 10 junior-11 senior- grade 12
8 :
year 9- freshman (fresh to the school) year 10- sophmore (youve become familiar with the school, and want more!) year 11- junior (you think your grown up, but your still to young to graduate) year 12- senior (your the oldest) this repeats in college too. youd be a junior.

"Freshman" is commonly used to describe a beginner or novice,a student in the first year of study The etymology is from Greek meaning "become wise’.The 10th grade is usually the second year of a student's high school period and is referred to as sophomore year. the United States, many students take the SAT Reasoning Test and/or ACT in the second half of their 11th-grade year.In the US, a student at this grade is typically referred to as a junior . This is where you fit.:D And the senior is the last year and graduate at 18 years old.
10 :
Yeah, I never understood that "year" stuff y'all do over there... Anyway. Freshmen are 9th graders (just came from middle school) Sophomores are 10th graders Juniors are 11th graders (you would be a junior) Seniors are 12th graders (the last year in high school, after this, it's college) Freshmen and sophomores are underclassmen Juniors and seniors are upperclassmen.

I knew someone that lived in Italy and moved here. He said our schooling is horrible compared to over there. The teachers let us get away with so much like no homework on weekends and no projects. Poorer schools have old outdated books with missing pages. That's for public school. Private schools tend to be a little different because they're paying for the education. If you're interested, schools and families in the area have hosted teenagers from other countries for the high school that I went to. I'm not sure which program they went through, but they came here from other countries to live for a year. You should look into it if you're really interested.

Hey! Love you name by the way! Go twilight! lol! BUt America has EXCELLENT schools. Universities are amazing and grade schools are also great. We all really learn a ton. Once you get into the 5th grade or so, you start going to different teachers for each f you classes. For example, for math class you will go to a qualified math teacher who has a degree in mathematics. Same for science, language arts, and social studies. You also have special classes like computer, physical education (P.E.), art, and music.

kindergarten: draw, spill paint, pee your pants, be annoying, etc. elementry: learn useless facts about animals, basic math, learn reading, etc middle: more useless facts, science, harder math, easy books, tests, etc high school: many, many more useless facts, complicated & unreliable math and reading, pointless p.e. games, and even more useless facts. So what im basically trying to say is that all you really need to know is basic math, reading, and common sense. In America you get 12 years of useless and pointless education that you will never have use of in real life.

It all depends on which county you go to school in. For example, I go to school in Miami Dade county, which encompasses the entire Miami metropolitan area. I go to a brand new public high school here. The school is very good. Although the school is only a year old, the principal is awesome and very cool and it is already a B school, which means it is one letter away from the perfect A. I love my school. However, I do have to comment on school food: it's bad. It's usually cold and tasteless. They don't put salt in any foods, so the only way to eat something good is to buy it from the vending machine or snack bar.

Schools in USA give a great Education to students, you just need to find the school that suits you. You should also search schools in certain areas, there are some neighboorhoods that I would not reccommend moving to.
