When you are a foriegn exchange student in Japan, how does it affect you high school classes in the USA

When you are a foriegn exchange student in Japan, how does it affect you high school classes in the USA?
I want to go to Japan to be an exchange student but I don't know how it will affect my schooling in America. I mean with all the required classes and all. Help!

i know this may not be of help.. i'm in the same situation so you're not alone(: It's best to talk to your counselors about your credits and if there is any way that what you do there pertains to here (USA). ask if there will be a problem with your credits. all i know is that it looks great on a college application. you're probably on a better track then me already! my counselors didn't know a darn thing.. now i'm going to my school district office in a few weeks for information! hehe :D credits are very important and that is a great question to ask your school. your school may run things differently when it comes to that and exchange programs. Goodluck! and i hope you-as well as me!- get the information needed to reach Japan kaity
2 :
It's best to have all/most of your required classes for graduation finished BEFORE you go to Japan. I watched a few video blogs of people studying at Japanese high school on exchange and they said almost everyone flunks out and that the programs/schools expect this. But the point of the exchange is learning the language and culture of Japan- not so much getting credits for back home. Another thing you can do is go on your "gap year" many programs offer the chance for people who graduated high school to go on high school exchange in the year before they begin University [Age 18-19 only]. Try these organizations. yfu.org and afs.org
3 :
You know high school life on Japan is extremely stressful and much more difficult than it is in the USA right? I suggest doing a year exchange once you're in college. Much more easy going and there is still plenty of Japanese school social life to be had (clubs, circles, etc). That said you'll have to check with your high school in the USA to see if they will accept a transcript of some kind from a Japanese school. If you don't do your entire high school career in one or the other country, it might be hard to get certain classes fulfilled in the normal 4 year time period (such as English and History related subjects).
4 :
some high schools will allow you to take a test for the language you learn and give you foreign language credit. However, most exchange students either go on exchange after they graduate, take summer classes to get ahead before they go, or make up the year they missed when they get back. When I went on exchange, my high school awarded me 4 credits in German and that was enough to keep me on track. Contact your guidance counselor, they will be able to advise you of your options.

could somebody tell me that spanish is taught as the second language in all usa schools

could somebody tell me that spanish is taught as the second language in all usa schools?
i don't know much about this. i just hear that spanish and french are two important languages after english. and which language (french or spanish) do students like to learn more? can you give me some information?

1 :
Spanish is offered more often (sometimes as the only language available, as was in my middle school), but I would be much more interested in learning French, if it were offered. I hope that helps. By the way, I'm from N.Y.C., so that's only one area.
2 :
generally between middle and high schools the choices are spanish or french, and spanish is much more popular (3:1 ratio) some regions offer intro classes in elementary schools, but typically through out all of these programs not much is learned by the students; they see it as a mandatory chore just like math, science, etc.
3 :
Spanish and French are in most schools, though most schools favor Spanish over French. (I was strong armed into taking Spanish in Junior High by a terrible guidance counselor.)
4 :
Mostly in middle schools. In my middle school they thought me Spanish and we had no option. I already know Soanish so for me it was boring. They teach spanish mostly in private middle schools
5 :
No. Not all schools in the US teach languages. Most schools don't really start until Middle School (7th and 8th grades, to be specific) and many don't offer languages at all until 9th grade (High School). Some don't offer any, even then! But if there is only one language, you're likely to find Spanish...if they have a second, it's probably French or German. Italian is pretty popular, Japanese, Chinese, and Latin, where there are teachers available. After that, it's pretty much anyone's guess. If you find a school that teaches DUAL LANGUAGE (classes in English and another) or some schools actually are complete immersion, you're more likely to find that in Spanish, though you can find some in French as well. Chinese is actually being thought to be the next most important language out there. Spanish is almost always more popular...it's seen as more macho, and more useful to Americans (cause there is so much immigration, and Spanish speaking countries are so close...They only speak French in a small part of Canada, and they all speak English, anyway. Or almost all.
6 :
I would say Spanish. Spanish is much more useful since 21 countries have Spanish as there official language. People who know Spanish get paid more too for this reason.

I am a Liberal Social Studies teacher and a gun owner and I have never said that America should give up their gun rights. We do discuss the topic and I think most of my students come to the conclusion that guns don't kill and people do. I try to teach my students to analyze an issue from both sides and give arguments with more proof than "I heard it from some guy/girl".

HELP! Boarding school un USA

HELP! Boarding school un USA?
Hello! I am 15-16 and the next year I want to stay in a bording school. But my parents canĂ‚´t pay $20,000. Do you know any cheap boarding school ? Help me, please. THANKS!

1 :
First, the is no such thing as a "cheap" boarding school, but there are schools with financial aid. Most schools have decent pools to pull from. Second, and before I go any further, stop and think for a moment. Why do you want to go to boarding school? What do you want to achieve there? Are you just going so you can leave your current school/town/parents/etc? Are you looking for more oppurtunities or just a change of scene. If you're just looking for a change of scene, let me suggest summer camp instead. Boarding schools aren't your stereotypical image that you see on Zoey 101, or that you read about in A Seperate Peace. Most of the students at these schools are the most driven children you will ever meet, especially at the schools that give GOOD financial aid. These schools are out there for the students who feel limited where they are; the mucisian needing better facilities and more knowledgable teachers, the student who loves science, but his current school only offers a limited amount of classes, and most times for the student who is limitted in all aspects and just wants someone who yearns to love as much as they do. Currently I know of three schools that are 100% needs blind and offer free tuition for students who's families make under $75,000 per year. These are Andover, Exeter, and St. Pauls, but along with this, these are among the most prestigous schools in the world. They are the Ivy Leagues of prep schools. What I'd suggest doing, if you are serious about this, is to go to boarding school review, a webstie designed to help students find schools that match them, and look for schools you'd be interested in going to, then checking on their FA programs. Just as a forewarning, from the sound of your age, you're a sophomore. You'd be applying for Senior year, since acceptance/rejection letters have already been sent out for the year. Very few rising seniors are ever accepted to schools.

Schools for becoming an Air hostess in USA

Schools for becoming an Air hostess in USA?

air hostess..lol....funny way to put it...I call them flying cocktail waitresses.
2 :
air hostess? what the hell is that? do you help people float air biscuits?
3 :
What about TGI Fridays? then do some voluntary work with Waste Management and a stint in a retirement home - you should be good to go after that - oh yeah and don't forget to tell them that in the event the plane "land's" in water then your seat cushion becomes a "floatation device" that you hang onto - assuming the unlikely chance that anyone survives such a "landing" then that seat cushion becomes a "bobber" for sharks and YOU are the bait!
4 :
Hope you mean Flight Atttendants school There is one in Los Angeles www.weteachtheworld.com
5 :
The term "air hostess" is not really used in the U.S. Never attend a Flight Attendant School. They're just rip-off schemes to make money. They wont help you get a job as a Flight Attendant. Each airline has its own training program and they pick the candidates based on their experience and presentation at interviews. You actually don't want to attend any sort of "school" that will give you conflicting information from what the airline wants to teach you. Better to spend your money on *language* courses. If you want to go abroad, sign up for French, Spanish or German classes in those countries. Your money and time will be better spent towards a skill the airlines are really looking for. I can say that most of us Flight Attendants, had at least a couple of years of college (or "university" if you prefer). Most of us had done sort of public-contact work, anything from waitressing to Wall Street. My first airline liked preformers. We had opera singers, ice skaters, dancers, actors and at least one trumpet player ;) A foreign language was required. Even when it's not, it really, really helps. Good luck!
6 :
NEVER go to Flight Attendent school there is no reason for it, the airlines give you their own training. Also you are going to have to work a few years in something else. Something which involes contact with people, waitress customer service agent etc. Than you will have a good shot of getting an FA job at a major airline.

When was corporal punishment in school abolished in the USA

When was corporal punishment in school abolished in the USA?
Here in the UK it was abolished in 1986 (1999 for private schools).
Teaching - 2 Answers

1 :
I honestly don't think it has been officially abolished in the USA. In the US the school policies are set by the state not the federal government. So while corporal punishment might be gone from 49 states as long as one state lets one district do it, it still exist. There was a court case on the use of corporal punishment in Florida in the mid-80s. IIRC they did not ban it even then and my teacher says they never have. So if my history of Education teacher is right they never banned corporal punishment, if he is wrong it was banned sometime after the mid-80s.
2 :
It hasn't been. I teach in Arkansas. Some school districts permit corporal punishment here, while others do not. It's a legal "patchwork quilt." There are (I think) quite a few states in the US that have banned the practice state-wide. I have never used corporal punishment, even while teaching at schools where it would have been permitted. Hitting a student, for any reason, is a terrible idea.

If Hogwarts is the wizarding school of the UK, that where are the wizard schools of the USA

If Hogwarts is the wizarding school of the UK, that where are the wizard schools of the USA?
Since America's twenty times bigger than the UK and Ireland population wise, there would probably be at least four different wizarding schools. Where would they be? Here's what I was thinking Kids from Washington State, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Hawaii and California would go to the same school, probably maybe in Big Sur, California or way out on the coast of Oregon. Kids from Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Nebraska, Kansas, South Dakota, North Dakota, Alaska and Oklahoma would probably go to the same school, probably in an unpopulated around like around Wyoming. Kids from Missouri, Tennessee, Georgia, Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia would go to the same school, probably way out in the mountains of Tennessee. Kids from Louisiana, Florida, Kentucky, Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Ohio, Minnesota, and Michigan would probably go to the same school. I'm thinking in the Louisiana swamp near New Orleans. The New England school would consist of Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, DC, and Delaware. Maybe it will be in Upstate New York.

Is it TRUE there.s a school in USA where ONLY WHITE KIDS can sit under a TREE, not black kids

Is it TRUE there.s a school in USA where ONLY WHITE KIDS can sit under a TREE, not black kids?
Im white and from england, but i find that a little strange and backwards. almost like something they do in Saudi aRabia, which is a bit prehistoc shariah law no we dont have stuff like that in england. not with black people any way (sorry i think im not to call them 'black' in America, i dont mean to be rude I dont know, thats what we call them here) so in england its not really a prob with the black guys over here, but more with Pakistanis. Some people, well lots are rude and call them "Pakis go home" as they can be ignorant, but I think its the whole anti-muslim thing at the moment but NO! definitely NO THINGS about people of different colours cant sit under a tree. sorry I dont understan what 'if clauses' means

No darling, the war is over. While there are still some areas where people make Race an issue, it is illegal to do that.
2 :
it's largely true except that only 1 white kid can sit under the tree because he's OBESE.
3 :
When I was in elementary school, there was a tree where all the "cool girls" sat. They were all white, there was about 6 of them. It wasn't some rule that mandated only those 6 girls could sit there. But it was socially understood that that was there tree. There were two dorky boys that claimed the swings.... It's territorial crap that kids do. It's not the black kids weren't allowed to sit there, but they were made to feel unwelcome by the kids who had claimed it as theirs.
4 :
It is so sad, and frankly I am embarrassed to say that yes in a town in Jena La there still seems to be a town that lives in segregation. I am sure you read the same story I did. When I read the article about this practice I was sickened. I have traveled lived all over the world and I am ashamed that people in the USA (the land of the free??) still treat people like this.
5 :
lord, the stories that do get around. If the land holding that tree happens to belong to someone that will not allow another race on his land,(as is his right, if it is his land), I suppose this is a possibility....but not on public land, nosir.
6 :
Yes, there is. In Jena, Louisiana. The tree has now been cut down and used for scrap firewood, but it existed there for many years. In case you haven't noticed when it comes to racism and hate, whites, at least in America pretty much take the cake. Here is a link for you: http://glciii.wordpress.com/2007/08/21/jena-6-update-hanging-tree-cut-down/ I know the whole world is watching and these bigots should really be embarrassed, but instead they as usual, fail to admit their crimes and their hate, but go on to deny, deny, deny even though the world has EYES and can witness the hatemongering outrageousness all by themselves. I guess it's not easy to admit when you're from a race that has notoriously practiced hate and violence, and bigotry since the inception of America. I hope whites in other parts of the world are not like these ones here in America. I know the world is witnesses this outrage, yet as usual, they are still in denial when everyone sees what they are doing.
7 :
In the Deep South of the USA racism is so ingrained that most folks don't even think of it....still. There used to be a rather lovely tree in front of the Jena, Louisiana high school. Traditionally, that tree was for whites only to sit under. A black student asked if he could join the white kids under the tree and without thinking they said no. The black kid went away. Apparently some kid with more hate than brains heard this and put up a noose in the tree. This sparked some nasty comments on the part of the black students. That brought out the village idiot who started waving a gun around and making drooling threats. And that caused 6 of the black kids (obviously the dumbest in the school) to jump all over a white kid because he racially taunted them. And then the *shudder of anticipation* LAW took over and those kids are being charged with a serious felony. In another answer I opined that the whole group of them should be sentenced to be incarcerated in steel-barred, barbed-wire covered playpens on the courthouse lawn for a week. If they're so bloody determined to act like fractious 2-year olds, then they oughta be treated as such....publicly! Maybe that'll learn 'em to GROW UP! And if not, maybe it'll give the rest of us a laugh and destress the situation.
8 :
Jolly do the Whites in England create charges based off "if clauses". For example, "If it were 6 White teens who beat 1 Black teen..." - Do they do this crap in England? --- Oh, well when you continue school you will know. I guess?
9 :
yes. same as the benches that is "reserved" for black students to sit together. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jena_Six btw....no white person cared to even sit among the blacks, but there is ONE black kid who HAS to be defiant and take it to another level. this is why the whole jena 6 started. because of that one BONEHEADED black kid who went to the principal and JOKINGLY asked if he could sit under the "white" tree.
10 :
Yes in some parts. Just be glad that you live in England.
11 :
No, it is not true. At least it would not be legal. It would be a violation of national, and probably state laws. Segregation was ruled unconstitutional in the US in 1954 (and was illegal in most northern states long before that). That said, it isn't too surprising to see kids acting with childish behaviour. At the school in question, and probably at many schools, kids form cliques, and probably one of the easiest ways to do so would be based on race. While kids have the right to choose their friends, staking out territories should be a violation of school rules, and should be punished at that level. It appears that the school, in this case, has failed to do an adequate job in maintaining the proper environment. In any case, the vast majority of people in the US get along with people of other races just fine. That the few cases where people don't get along are considered newsworthy, is a pretty good indication of just how rare they are and how backward such people are considered by society in general. Knowing both the US and Europe, I would say that racism exists at the about the same low level in both places, and is rejected by the vast majority of each population.
12 :
They can keep that one tree. Why would we wont to set under anyways. I hard of it and also hard it was turndown. That is what they get for having a whites-only-tree and a whites-only-pie. They know we was going to get some sooner or later or it will stop. Peace!
13 :
The black kids only wanted to sit there to start a racial fight. It's a f*%king tree for crying out loud! No, there is no law or rule about who gets to sit there but sometimes people gravitate to certain spots and it UNOFFICIALLY is known as their spot. If the white kids tried to sit in the black kids spot then they would have been labeled as trouble-making racists. They set out to start trouble and that is exactly what they got. Difference is, is that one group used a sensitive object to get their point across and the other group resorted to what they know best. GROUP VIOLENCE
14 :
There are a great number of trees in the state of Louisiana. If someone purposely goes to an area where they know others who dislike them reside, it seems to me this person is looking for trouble. It seems quite likely that the students who came to sit beneath the tree did not do it because they desperately wanted to sit beneath a tree and this was the only tree they could find. They were looking to push the buttons of the kids who disliked them. They were looking to instigate trouble. This was a territorial battle. Part of growing up involves grouping. It is something that people do naturally. They group together with people they have things in common with. If you know where your group hangs out and you purposely go invade the space where an opposing group usually hangs out, common sense says there will be trouble. The black kids wanted a fight, but received a death threat instead. They then brought the fight and are now on trial for attempted murder. This may not have ever happened if leaders at the school had taught the kids how to get along rather than pretending no problems existed.
15 :
yes it's true as a result they cut it down
16 :
there are cliques in American schools just like other countries sometimes they mark their territory from my understanding of the case in Jena, Louisiana, this tree was where white kids had always sat and at one time it had been a real hanging tree being a Texan and having relatives from the Deep South, I understand the history of hanging trees and their significance today many people do not anyway there are schools where kids do whites only thing and blacks only things or places, but not as a rule for instance, there have been schools (and still are) where there is a black prom and a white prom a prom is an end of year dance for high school students and there are certain activities that certain kinds of kids do that others maybe do not it is not always skewed in favor of whites, but in many cases these things are...but i have seen where black kids exclude others as well think of things like this as really how racism is in the United States de facto versus de jure racism is against the law (de jure) BUT it is practiced in actuality (de facto)

How to reduce school bullying in USA

How to reduce school bullying in USA ?

Parents need to stop expecting the schools to raise their kids. Too many people are lazy and won't teach their kids how to behave. Simple as that.
2 :
Kick em' in the nuts if they bug ya! jk. i have no clue.. we don't have any bullying at my school
3 :
Raise kids with stronger morals. Have programs in school that will actually have a great effect on kids. Despite drug programs, kids still go out and do drugs. We need programs that will really help kids understand the effects of bullying. People need to understand that bullying is no joke; it's harming another person mentally and physically. Also help people to know that they're responsible for ruining another person's life if they're bullying them.
4 :
Schools can have as many seminars, and meetings about bullying as they want. No teenager pays attention during those, and when they do they treat it as a joke. It all goes back to the parents of the bullies, who obviously fail to teach them morals.

A few friends and I have been considering attending grad school in Australia/New Zealand. Obviously we would need to take out loans and I was wondering if these are easily obtainable. It's important to note that this is not a study abroad program within a United States University but actually attending a University there for Masters/PHD degrees.

Have you contacted AFS or EF? These are among the most popular and prestigious study abroad organizations in the world. I've had some experience working with AFS and they are very professional and really care about their students. Check out this link for a list of reputable agencies that offer study abroad programs around the world: http://www.macquil.com/abroad.php Good luck!

My son went to Japan with AFS and had a very good experience. www.usa.afs.org We went with AFS because he only wanted to go to Japan and we could pick a country through this program. A large number of students also go through their local Rotary Exchange program. You aren't always guaranteed your first choice country, but it is much cheaper to go this route. http://www.rotary.org/en/StudentsAndYouth/YouthPrograms/RotaryYouthExchange/Pages/ridefault.aspx Both programs are student and parent friendly and supplied great support and information.

Hi there, I'm hosting a student through a smaller agency called ERDTShare. It is a non-profit. I don't know exactly how you would go about comparing one US agency to another -- but I wouldn't do it based on their websites. Per my own testimonial, I can tell you that ERDTShare really cares about the student and works hard to ensure a good match as well as student and host-family success. They have been extremely professional to work with. I know of one particular large, pretigious exchange agency who recently sent home a student in our local high school because of irreconcilable differences with her host family. If she had been placed with a different agency, she probably would have simply been relocated to a new family. All that being said, be sure that you understand and you're fully comfortable with how your prospective agency handles situations where there may be a mismatch between student and family. And don't discount the smaller agencies even if their websites aren't as cool.... because they likely have other assets that are more important. I would suggest that you make some phone calls to assess the agencies rather than basing your analysis solely on the websites. Here's a link to the agency we've used. We've really enjoyed the experience working with them. The coordinators are very professional, caring, fun and accomodating, and the students are top notch. http://www.erdtshare.org/ Best of luck to you!

Then it moved on to more active approaches like recorded audio and things like that. Now there are places like Fieldstone Academy ( http://www.fieldstoneacademy.org/virtual ) that have fully live classes. The student sits at home and sees the teacher teaching live. ThereĂ¢€™s also a lot happening with online tutoring and things like that.

I don't think there is a Lycee Francais in Detroit, but there is another French school called Ecole Francaise de Detroit. It's actually in Bloomfield Hills, which is a suburb of Detroit. The web site is listed below, although it doesn't seem to work that well. Here is the contact info: Ecole FranĂƒ§aise de Detroit Tel : 248 203 5704 Fax : 248 203 5705 Ms CorduriĂƒ¨s, direct. I am not positive so you should confirm this information with the proper authorities. If you are completing an MBBS, your training should be approximately the same as an MD in the USA, so you would not need to go to medical school in the USA. Instead, you should take the United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE). You will need to pass this test to practice medicine in the USA and get training in a specialty by doing a residency. There is more information at the links below.

2 :
No one is going to answer that question unless we know you're not muslim first.
3 :
Tulsa, OK. is well known for itĂ¢€™s aerospace industry. There are many flight schools around Tulsa and Oklahoma City.
4 :
Call "First Beautiful Inflight school". The FBI. I'm sure they will help you along.
5 :
It depends totally on where you are. Barring that we do not know that information then I would say: Central Missouri State University has an excellent flight program. They basically have their own airport and single engine planes West of Warrensburg, MO just off of Highway 50.

i heard piloting schools are there in texas .

Typically its basically only two weeks long, a little the week before and till after new years.
2 :
Well it all depends the school and state. Most of them last either 2 or 3 weeks, some 4! I live in California. My school only gets 3 weeks. My last break was from December 17th-January 10th. Most of the other schools are in the same weeks.
3 :
It depends on the school district, but they all roughly last about 2 weeks.

I think it's difficult to point to anyone 'best' school. The individual needs of a student and family will vary wildly - so careful consideration of the options by the parent is necessary to determine what situation public, private, or home-based is best for their child. Some public school systems have developed excellent programs for the gifted student. Many unfortunately are lacking. You may need to take it upon yourself to set clear expectations with your local school in order to obtain the services your child requires. Many do not have programs for young students. In some cases grade acceleration (skipping grades) is a good solution. It's not always necessary in every subject - but many kids benefit from acceleration in mathematics for example, a subject where acceleration can be very helpful in the early years. That seemingly inexhaustible drive to investigate is a gift indeed. And it is one that can be easily squandered in the confines of many classrooms unless adequately challenged. You are right to want to protect and encourage this talent. Read everything you can about education of the gifted mind. Do colleges calculate overall GPA if the first two years of your high school were outside the USA

Do colleges calculate overall GPA if the first two years of your high school were outside the USA?
I did 9th and 10th grade in India and my 11th and 12th grade here in the US. I am currently applying to colleges. Will colleges in the US calculate my overall GPA including my grades from 9th and 10th grade even if the grading scale was different?
Other - Education - 1 Answers

Yes. Since grades and GPAs are calculated differently in most foreign countries, you would have to have your grades converted to the American standards. There are some companies that do this for you, but some colleges have their own evaluation staff.

The best architectural school in USA

The best architectural school in USA...?
What school is the best to study architectural design?
Careers & Employment - 2 Answers

MIT and Harvard are still the best
2 :
There are rankings and most would probably say that Harvard GSD is still the best. I would suggest you look at state schools. If you can get residency in that state you can save a lot in tuition. Top schools in this category would be UIUC, UCLA, Berkeley, Michigan, UT-Austin. The reason being is that you won't get paid any better if you go to a private school, and I don't see much advantage to the network you could potentially build. Overall architecture is a bad profession and you should consider something else. You will have to get a Masters and work for 3 years minimum before you're licensed. You will work long hours and get paid relatively little. If you never start your own firm (which is not easy), you will have to live a very frugal life and will not have time much time for family regardless. If you think you have the energy and talent to make it big, you should take that talent and direct it into something else that will give you more satisfaction and financial reward, while allowing you have time for things outside of work. As an architect your work will be your life.

The Hebrew university was rated 63rd, the Tel Aviv university 106th, the Technion 154th and the Ben Gurion university 180th (out of 300 universities) in the QS World University Rankings - Life Sciences & Biomedicine, as of 2009. For comparison of the Ben Gurion university to American universities with a medical program, according to this list, you should pick either the university of Virginia or the Ohio state university. I believe I chose the right subject for the ratings, but have a look for yourself.

noppe ull just get suspended
2 :
Not likely unless you used a weapon and even then you are more apt to be expelled then go to juvenile.
3 :
DO NOT fight in school...you probably heard this a million times...what can you resolve/prove from fighting? Seriously, think about this. Just think of all the consequences before you act. You already did the first step...taking your time and asking this question to find out the consequences, good job. If you're fighting...it depends on injury, weapons involvement, gangs related, your "opponent", etc. You may be going to juvenile hall. Most "cat fights" in school will result suspension. At 13, you're entering an age group that gets in trouble easily, try every way to avoid getting into fight because it's only get you in trouble, unless you want to start your "rap sheet" at 13.
4 :
Yes, you can if the other person file charges on you.
5 :
depends on the judge but if you are not a problem child just get suspended.

You've decided it's time for your child to receive the many advantages of attending a private school. But there are many hurdles to clear. At many private schools, the majority of students applying aren't even accepted. One way to help ensure your child's acceptance is to assist them with doing well on the ISEE, or the Independent School Entrance Exam. I advice u to go this web http://www.articlesbase.com/education-articles/isee-test-preparation-is-the-key-for-private-school-admission-3282630.html

Public school in USA

Public school in USA?
Can foreign students attend public schools in USA? Or is it restricted only to locals?
Primary & Secondary Education - 6 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Yeah, if you're here on a green card and are properly enrolled, they typically don't have a problem with it.
2 :
im pretty sure you have to be a citizen..
3 :
As long as they are a legal citizen since the USA is strict about that stuff.
4 :
of course they can! They need to register and bring birth certificate, shot records and proof of residency just like other students. My son has 2 foreign students in his 2nd grade class this year.
5 :
Well you would have to move to the United States to go to a public school and be a resident of that city. But you can come to America and take part of the foreign exchange program, where a host family from that city where you want to attend school in houses you for a while, its normally 2-4 weeks and then in return they normally get to come in visit you in your home town, we have foreign exchange students at my school all the time!
6 :
Contrary to some of the other answers, you do not have to be a citizen of the USA to attend public school in the USA. But to answer your question, yes, you can attend school. Now the question is HOW. If your family emigrates to the USA (moves here), then you would simply enroll in public school. You will need some documentation, such as a birth certificate, a social security card or other type of ID, and immunization records. If your family is not moving here, then you can look into exchange student programs. Someone else has already covered that.

How Many Periods Per School day

How Many Periods Per School day?
Im trying to get my head around highschool in the states. How many periods do you get in a given day and how many classes per period? Is it the same amount of periods for every high school in USA?
Books & Authors - 8 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
I'm not so sure about the other highschools, but I just graduated last year, and there were 7 periods a day.
2 :
My high school district is different, though there are others like it. We have four classes a day for about an hour and a half each. Then after a semester we change to four new classes. That way we get a total of 8 classes in one school year. Other high schools have about 6 periods usually and they're for the whole school year. A period is the same as a class basically. You might have English 1st period. 1st period is your 1st class. Hope that made sense... xD
3 :
most of the time there are 6. some people have 7 periods. my school has 8 for some gawdawful reason but one is just an entire hour for lunch so technically it's only 7 learning periods. no there are not the same amount of periods for every high school in the u.s.a and one period equals one class. class is simultaneous with period. there are several periods through a day. two quarters in each semester and two semesters. not too many high schools are year round either but there are a few.
4 :
Generally schools in the states have between 6-8 periods each lasting 45-60 minutes. Many schools also have an optional 0 or A period to get another class in for some people who need then, though this is generally optional. I believe, but am not positive, that most public high schools in the states follow this.
5 :
It varies according to the school. Me, I get eight school periods per day, but that's just my school. Some schools have more or less periods per day, or even have block schedules that make it so that each day has different classes and a different number of class periods. For example, say my school had an ABC block schedule. On an A day, which is usually monday, could have 6 periods with different classes unique to A day. On B day, I could have 8 periods with different classes unique to B day, ect. It's a little hard to wrap your head around until you actually have a block schedule for a few days. Hope I helped!
6 :
There are 8 periods in my school day.
7 :
My school is totally different from everyone else's. We have five periods (which is the same as a class) a day, each exactly an hour long. We have a longer day though, six and a half hours. Hope this helps!
8 :
it really depends on the school you go to. my school has a 7 periods, but 4th period is split into two parts with there being a 4A period and a 4B period. if you have a 4A lunch you'll have a 4B class, or the other way around, so you really get 7 full class periods throughout the day with lunch. 1 class per period. and they are about 45 minutes long.

Which religion should write the official school prayer for USA public schools

Which religion should write the official school prayer for USA public schools?
There is a movement in many communities to have prayer in school. Everybody praying together instead of just their private prayers which of course they can do at any time. Someone will have to come up with the prayer. If it passes anywhere, and I hope it never does, then my choice is Wicca
Religion & Spirituality - 17 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
that doesnt make any sense. why would there be prayers in public schools, ESP a prayer of ONE relig. when many public schools have lots of kids w/ diff or no religs. what about the ppl who dont believe in praying?
2 :
Tenrikyo.
3 :
prayer's a waste of time....coz there's no god anyway. oh u knew that ? okay.
4 :
Religion has no place in education or politics.
5 :
Muslim - they need to be in forefront on some things.
6 :
I think instead of an "official school prayer", there should be a moment of silence to pray or reflect, as each individual chooses...
7 :
Islam, Insh'Allah.
8 :
I don't care who comes up with the prayer as long as it includes salmon croquettes and tater tots I'm happy.
9 :
The "religion" of thinking for oneself.
10 :
None. because of the whole separation between church and state thing, I believe it was written in the single most important document in the entire history of the united states. Maybe you've heard of it its called the constitution. No this is a terrible idea and if liberty and justice have anything to do with it it will not pass.
11 :
hare Krishnas don't get much attention any more so I think they should do it. Just another topic to get people fighting over so they won't see the reps at the top doing what they do.
12 :
None it shouldn't exist. Violation of Church and state separation few people want this in reality quit representing your minority opinion as popular. Your using the usual republican technique. Edit Satan- Satanism would be my first choice too if this idea would be so popular lets see how the fundys like that.
13 :
How about a prayer service at work too? You don't want to stop at just children. Although children are the easiest to indoctrinate and control. Pesky adults ask pesky questions with their pesky logic. It would take a Christian fundamentalist government to reinstate cooperative prayer in schools. That said it would be a very general Christian prayer. Who will come up with it? The Reverend Al Sharpton. It will be a great show of racial inclusion and the Christians will be praised! I'm beginning to think that Creationism in school should be taught alongside evolution but only in mockery of it when compared to scientific data contradicting the bogus theory of clay-man and rib-woman.
14 :
Why Satanism of course! We don't pray though, so it will just be ritual... Of course, the classes with good looking female teachers could use them as alters.. (A nude woman is often used in place of an alter in Satanism) So, how do you think that will fly?
15 :
As freedom of religion is enshrined in the 1st amendment to the constitution, it wouldn't be possible to write one that wouldn't involve at least some children being forced to pray to a god they don't believe in. It's a ridiculous idea and violates the constitution. Schools are for education. If people want their children to be able to join in public prayer they can do that in church, temple, synagogue, mosque or wherever.
16 :
Prayer is a one on one conversation. Why would you want someone else to write your innermost that you discuss with your Creator. Jesus gave us some good admonition when he gave us the model to go by known as the Lord's Prayer. Notice the verses just before that prayer. (Matthew 6:5-8) .Ă‚ .Ă‚ .. 6Ă‚ You, however, when you pray, go into your private room and, after shutting your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; then your Father who looks on in secret will repay you. 7Ă‚ But when praying, do not say the same things over and over again, just as the people of the nations do, for they imagine they will get a hearing for their use of many words. 8Ă‚ So, do not make yourselves like them, for God YOUR Father knows what things YOU are needing before ever YOU ask him.
17 :
Since public schools are run by the Government and there is suppose to be a separation of Church and state (see constitution/bill of rights) than it probably would never happen. Thanks for the vote for Wicca, but I think it should be the choice of the student and allowed that the student has the right to pray or not.

here's the deal after many arguments im finally allowed to go on an exchange program with school to USA but

here's the deal after many arguments im finally allowed to go on an exchange program with school to USA but...?
ok. so here's the deal after many arguments im finally allowed to go on an exchange program with school to the USA in 2011. the catch is that my dad is like you have to put as much money as you can towards it and thats fair cause its going to work out to $8000 with everything included. and then he was like oh by the way you have to give up acting - the only thing i do, which is really hard cause acting is what i love. so i was like well if i can get a job by the time i have to quit acting then can keep doing it, fair enough? cause i can pay for it myself but he was like no cause then all that money will go to the trip. but the point is that he's not saying you have to put $5000 towards the trip or a rough figure. he's saying in other words if i can get $3000 then thats fine but i have to give up acting, so the $1000 that would be from now till then from acting can go towards the trip. but if i get a job and get the same $3000 plus enough for acting and probably a bit more then i still cant do it, if that makes sense. i dont think thats very fair cause acting means the world to me its the only thing out of school i do. what do you think?? any help?? thanks oh and im only 15 so that amount of money is alot yeah its long sorry

1 :
Maybe he's making you give up acting so you can concentrate all your energy on getting money for this trip and keeping your grades up. Also if he's paying for you to act, that's more money he can put towards your trip. 8000 is a LOT of money and any money he can save will help out a lot. You're not the only one that will have to give up something you like so you can have this trip.
2 :
Honestly, I don't think it's fair of your father to ask you to give up your passion. I understand that possibly your acting is costing a lot of money but then he should give you a chance to help and pay for it yourself. I think you should try that. Work really hard, save all the money you can until 2011, who knows maybe you'll come up with 5000 and that will be enough for him to consider you've worked enough for it. If I were you though and I had a choice like that, I'd forget about the US and keep up acting. There are other countries you can travel to for much much much cheaper. Didn't check but if you're in Europe, my thought is : Ryan air, go to Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Finland, wherever you want. Should cost you what? 100 to 200 euro return flights depending where you go and when (I'm going to Belgium in a couple weeks, flying from Ireland with my husband. 100 euro return for both of us)?

How is school of medicine organized in USA

How is school of medicine organized in USA?
I'm an italian student, can you explain me how is school of medicine organized in USA? How many years is it long? when can you get a specialization, for example plastic surgey? Is there a pre-medicine course that is 4 years long? When can you start to attend an internship in a hospital?
Higher Education (University +) - 2 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
In my understanding, you do an undergraduate 4-year baccalaureate degree, usually in the sciences, sometimes called pre-med. You talk the MCAT test. Your college grade point, your fulfillment of required classes, and your MCAT score determine your acceptance by a med school. Medical school is three years. Then you start a residency. During your first year of residency, you are called an itern. In your second year, you start into your specialization. You might become a fellow after your three years if you stay on for more training.
2 :
American medical schools require four years of training. The first two years are mainly classes and the last two years are mainly individual and small group instruction with patients. You must take a difficult test to pass from the class stage to the patient stage - it checks to see that you have learned all the material very well. After the patient stage when you have received your Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree then you have another test before you can become an independent physician. After receiving your MD you start a series of post graduate training posts which vary according to which specialty you are following, For the most difficult specialties (for example, cardiac surgery) the training might continue for up to ten years. To gain entrance to a med school you must complete a series of tough undergraduate courses and probably receive a BS or BA degree. You must have an excellent grade average and an excellent score on a tough exam called the MCAT which most pre-med students take after their third year of college. For reliable information about med schools in the USA, check the website of the AAMC - the organization which coordinates US med schools.

There is no best school. Diplomats come from an extremely wide variety of backgrounds, specialties, prior employment, college majors, areas of the US, and life experience. The important thing is not to study diplomacy - you can't really do that, anyway - but to study what you love and be extremely aware of the world around you in all of its complexities. Oh, and pass the Foreign Service exam.

Close, but the best for what you want is American University in Wash. DC. Almost all of them are poli-sci majors and intern in a federal position. Good contacts for that kind of stuff, related work experience.

dognhorsemom is, as always, correct. No point in going to Georgetown School of Foreign Service, unless you have a reason other than prospective career to go there: few of its grads actually go to work for the State Dept. Harvard Law School is good: a recent ambassador to Malaysia went there. But whatever education broadens your mind and gives you insight into history, geography and international affairs is good. Languages are important, but in fact under the law and regulations you only need to learn one beyond English. It's just that among the ranks of the most successful FSOs are those who learned hard languages well. So: if you want to study in NY that leaves Columbia and NYU. If Middle Eastern affairs interest you, try to study under Noah Feldman (NYU Law School, but you could equally work with him if you studied in their grad school).

I work for the foreign ministry of a Western country, doing foreign policy. You would not know it if you looked at my resume (ex-soldier, ex- newspaper sub-editor, ex-ESL teacher, ex-computer programmer, ex-customer service delivery analyst). Doghorsemom is right. You need to have a love of learning about the world, ideally tied with an economics or law degree (though I have neither). It attracts eccentrics and ordinary guys, radicals and blue-bloods, hawks and doves. It is not a job for prima donnas - you could be expected to do put in long hours and perform tedious chores that are found in any workplace. Much of the work is about sharing information and building consesuses - teamwork and communication skills count. Above all, have excellent writing skills. You will be paid a public servant's salary too. The odds are getting in are small. Try developing a career somewhere else, and then try to move in.
