The minimun salary for a professional in Costa Rica, as a mediacl doctor whitout specialty is 321000 colones per month, that´s $623 a month. However, in Costa Rica there are not many job oporunities because there are lots of medical doctors whitout specialty. Also you should consider that, when you apply for a job in Costa Rica, employeers are obliged to prefer national aspirants for the job if they have the same qualities as foreigners that are also applying for the job

I'm attending a boarding school fall 2010; which one should I choose? (USA)?
I don't have any specific names of boarding schools I like right now, just because all of their websites tend to be at least minorly misleading. So alumni would be fantastic--if you've attended a boarding school in the USA that you really liked, please tell me about it. My preferences would be an annual tuition fee of 36,000 or less, a good english department, and somewhere it gets cold or even snows would be nice as well. Thanks for your answers. :)

Asheville School in North Caroline or Culver Academy in Indiana. I'm trying to get into Culver. Asheville is in the mountains so LOTS of snow and Culver is up north so ditto. BTW check out my question "Information About Culver Academies?" under other-education
2 :
I currently go to the Webb School in Bell Buckle TN, and I love it! It gets really cold in the winter, don't worry about that, plus we have strong academics and a good English and Fine Arts dept.!

Please tell me about major in graduate school in USA.

Please tell me about major in graduate school in USA.?
I am thinking about going to Grad School in U.S. Right now I am doing a system engineer in Hong Kong. My job is managing a project team, and building a customized computer system for clients. Example of my detailed job is to estimate Software/Hardware/SI, and negotiate with clients, select Hardware/Software, fix the specification of application, design of application and system, and so on. Sometimes in a small project, I do even technical things, like building OS(Win/Solaris), programming, and tuning of RDBMS. In Grad School, I want to extend in this direction, but the most things I want to focus is technical skill, like Program, DB Management, Nework, OS, and Program. I want to less emphasize on Project Management, or Business side. In this case, what would be the best major for me? I do not really understand what's the difference among computer science, information technology, system engineering, information systems, electrical & computer engineering. Please Help!

Anywhere- schools are in almost every city and they all need busses which all need drivers! Pick where you want to live, look in the phone book or online for the city's ISD Transportation department for information on how to apply. City busses are only in the bigger cities so you will have to double check beforehand.

Is High School that different in the Usa to the Uk

Is High School that different in the Usa to the Uk?
I've always hated school in England, its always been so boring and repetitive. I've always wanted to go to an American High School for some reason, just because it seems different and more exciting, like they have homecoming, prom and their school trips seem way better. Is it really that different to high school in Britain?

Go to related school internet site, download application forms, find 3 referee who write you recommendation letters, if English isn't your first language pas a TOEFL test, fill the form, send it with letters and resume and other needed documents to the university, pray for an admission. If you get an admission take it to US embassy to get a VISA, if you gain one pack and go to US. Good Luck
2 :
Nice! I am in molecular but I do a little micro. First of all, you have to contanct multiple institutions: -schools you want to apply for, ask information on international students -the US govt. about STUDENT visas, these are different than normal ones -FAFSA about financial aid status, you need to find out what to turn in because deadlines are coming soon. -look up international scholarships living on the east coast might be a good choice for you because there are many international students here and many many colleges and universities. good luck

You would need to have a parent or guardian here in the states. any student under the age of 18 can go to a public school here. You would have to have someone legally responsible for you to sign you up at school. Not sure what Visa's you would need. The school would want all of your past school transcripts.

No. You can only have one Visa, student or work, you cannot have both and you cannot switch them, so you have to just stick to your student visa. Visas are very strict in their regulations, you are issued a Visa for a specific amount of time, and you cannot be in this country outside of that time. So no, sorry.

if the cubs played the best high school team in USA 162 times in a row would they win every game

if the cubs played the best high school team in USA 162 times in a row would they win every game?

Baseball - 6 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
The cubs are a prolific squad but if the High School contingent scrupulously scrutinize the opposition and concoct appropriate game plans the are in with a chance. The most prosperous strategy I believe if attempting to play 162 consecutive games would be to fatigue the opposition as much as possible during each altercation. This could be done by dropping catches hence the batter shall have to run instead of returning to the dugout, endeavoring to score home runs by tapping the ball into open space and taking a convenient base while the fielders have to exert energy and finally not letting the game become stagnant. Younger players possess superior stamina and will always prevail if the adversary is tired.
2 :
No. They will be 132-30
3 :
No. They would win a lot of those games but not all of them. High Schoolers' can hit 89-85 mph fastballs for whoever said they couldn't. But ya the cubs would win most of them but definatly not all O and the for the dude who said high school pitchers can only throw 70 mph I'm a freshman that throws that fast and i was the slowest pitcher on the freshman team so the best high school varsity teams pitchers will throw like 83-88 mph
4 :
No, they would have to lose games as well win them, you can't win every game, plus it is no fun for the other team to lose every single game that they play. Bottom line, you have to lose too you just can't win every game, even through it would be nice to. But if the Cubs played the best High School team in the USA, who knows who will win.
5 :
No because it would be important games and Cubs and important games don't go well as we've seen for the past 100 YEARS. Most likely go 11-151
6 :
Is this question a joke? I mean seriously come on.... yes the cubs would win EVERY single game... the best high school team in the nation MAY have 4 players that EVENTUALLY make it to the MLB. The players on the high school team have played for a much shorter amount of time, are not completely developed, not used to hitting 90 mph pitching on a daily basis. The high school team will have 1 or 2 pitchers hitting 90 mph IF THEY ARE LUCKY... there is no way that the best high school team in the country could beat a MLB team as pathetic as the pirates...

Are school students in the USA allowed to call their teachers by their first names

Are school students in the USA allowed to call their teachers by their first names?
Or do they call them Sir / Ma'am / Mr / Mrs / Miss...etc? Some people are under the impression that US school students can freely call their teachers "Bob", "Susie", "Mary" and so on, instead of calling them Sir, Ma'am, Mr. Jones, Mrs Randall, etc... Is it true?
Teaching - 18 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
no, not at all
2 :
Im in ireland schol and I have t ocall mine sir, miss,
3 :
@ my school in South Carolina, US, it isn't aloud, the teacher won't answer to you unless you call them....Mrs or Mr. so&so.
4 :
when I was in school, most teachers prefered to be called Mr. Mrs. There were a few teachers that allowed the students to call them by their first name. My favorite teacher "science class" we refered to him as Mr. D. because no one could pronounce his last name.
5 :
in some classrooms the teachers allow them to. in most they arent allowed. depends on the teacher, and the school board in a certain county/town/city and what they say goes or doesnt go.
6 :
There are some teachers that allow/encourage students to call them by their first name, while the majority still call them Mr/Mrs/Ms..etc..
7 :
Not at all...students use teachers sir names. Even if you have a cool teacher that would rather be called by their first name your still use Mr. or Ms. before the name out of respect. For example Mr. Bob.
8 :
they're on a first name basis only if they're sleeping with them!
9 :
in grade school, always no. it's disrespectful for a child to speak to a mentor using a familiar name. in highschool, no, it's even more disrespectful, usually because the teenager is getting sassy with the teacher. in college, it's possible, but depends on what the teacher asks to be called. most prefer their formal title: Dr. or professor graduate school is the same as college, but maybe a bit more relaxed since it's more of a peer environment. i find that many adjunct teacher, usually without PhD's will allow 1st name, but those with PhD will want to be referrred to as Dr.
10 :
NO way, at least not in any Texas school. Its Sir, Maam, Mr, Mrs, Ms....you get the idea.
11 :
When I was at senior school (83-87) in England we used to have a sports teacher we called Jock (he was Scottish), so they compromised and let us call him by his first name (Laurie) as they didn't think nick names like that were appropriate, the teacher himself didn't mind though.
12 :
No.
13 :
I guess that would be up to the teacher. many teachers think they need to be the child's friend in order for them to be effective teachers; that is a huge mistake. I know that many teachers do allow it. Children do not respect adults that act like their friends instead of adult leaders. I, as a parent do not allow my children to call any adult by their first name; although many adults nowadays seem to encourage it making my job to teach otherwise much more difficult.
14 :
In lower education, like elementary and High School that would be a no unless they are directed by the teacher to call them by their first name. In college there are professors who choose to be called by their first name rather than Mr./Mrs./Miss. It is up to the teacher.
15 :
As a teacher in California, I know teachers who have let their students use their first name...but these teachers have been few and very far between. I require my students to use Mr.... and sir. I know of no teacher at my school currently who allow students to use their first name. This practice leads to problems with discipline and learning...teachers are not a students peer.
16 :
Unfortunately, it is true in some schools. It is a trend that i don't like and it is based, I believe, in teachers wanting to be the friends of students, When i began teaching at the age of 24 one of my students asked me my first name. My answer to her was Mister. She did not inquire again.
17 :
At my school it is Mr./Miss/Mrs. all the way. My cousin teaches and has her son in her Biology I class and he still calls her Mrs. B______.
18 :
In California, we're not allowed to call our teachers by their first names. Saying "Ms./Mrs./Mr." shows respect toward the teacher. It's rude if students call their teachers by their first names.

Is everyone in private schools rich and snobby and spoiled??? Im going to go to one but im rich but im not poor and im definitely not spoiled or snobby. Here in europe i go to a private school but its a cheap school so most people arent rich. I went to a private catholic school as did my boyfriend. Both of us are from middle-income families in suburan neighborhoods. I don't consider myself snobby or spoiled. We both drive cars that were left to us by deceased relatives and work full-time jobs to pay for college. You find rich kids in the US in both public and private schools. Several of the school districts in my home state of New Jersey are very wealthy were every student has a laptop, wears designer clothes and the student lot has more BMWs than the faculty lot... but others many students don't speak English and can't read before they graduate. Spend enough hanging around in schools in the US you will find people who are spoiled and snobby even when their parents can barely afford to feed them.
3 :
Yeah we are all snobby rich bitches
4 :
I go to a private school although it is pretty small it is really expensive, there are way too many scholarship kids for my taste, I think it depends on the person but I only go out with rich guys, almost everyone has a car, I don't yet, I am too young to drive but I am getting one as soon as I can drive. There are lots of people in my school that drink and do drugs and have really lame parties, They aren't the popular people though. There are also amazing parties that are fun and over the top. Not every one is spoiled, rich or snobby but lots of us are
5 :
I did, and NO... Rich for the most part YES... and it was Very expensive so that would explain that... And no girls in private schools don't only go out with only the rich ppl, although most do, because well that is who is there.

Please tell me about high school in USA ( especially in MI ). I'm so worry about my brother's behavior.?
Hello. I'm from Thailand and I don't know anything about school in US. My brother went to Michigan as an exchange student and he will stay there in a school year. He is a sophomore student. He takes a team sports class this semester. And I really want to know that do the high school students have a shower in naked bodies together before and / or after the PE class ? And if you're not the school athlete will you able to take a shower with a naked body at the school with the other students ? And also I worry about his behavior. I want to know that do the school and living zone ( outside the town ) prevent people under 18 years old from drinking alcohol beverage and having abuse drugs as well. Please tell me, thank you.
Family - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Some kids shower together after PE and some don't. It depends on the school. Every school is different. As far as drugs and alcohol--peer pressure is everywhere. It's up to your brother not to engage in those things.
2 :
Hey why don't you email me at Samantha Garant @ yahoo ( no spaces in the email though) I've been a Michigan resident forever and went threw all of my schooling there except one semester of college. That way you can e-mail me on and off while you're brothers there and I'll educate you about Michigan and the US as much as possible. :D I hope to hear from you.
3 :
Boys shower naked together, girls shower naked together. Boys and girls do not shower naked together. Some boys wear swim trunks or shorts in the shower. That's up to them. No, it's only the athletes who shower at school. Some schools have physical education classes for all students. In that case, the PhysEd class will shower after the class, but not boys and girls together, of course. Stores and bars that sell alcohol to those under 18 face large fines, and risk going out of business, so they will always ask for ID. As for drugs, they are illegal for any age, so it's risky behavior to take drugs. I think your brother will be fine. Why don't you call him today and ask him how he's doing?

For an international perspective, check out St. George's University in Grenada (a Caribbean island). It isn't in the US, but it is accreditted by US, UK and many other countries Medical boards. Nearly all the students are foreign and the facilities are modern. From the feedback I've heard, most doctors who studied there are happy with their education. It's also somewhat cheaper than the US schools and less competitive. http://www.sgu.edu/website/sguwebsite.nsf/index.html

UCLA has the best medical school. I got 2 perfect scores in math and reading, but my writing score was only 720, for a total of 2320. Acting school in USA

Acting school in USA?
I am a 18 year old boy. I have all my life been so confused about what i wanted to work as, when i got older. And through High School i've been so lazy, and didn't see any reason to do my homework etc, because I didn't know what I would study when i got older. All my life my friends been telling me that I could be an great actor because of how good I am of taking different roles and imitating people.. but I never took it serious.. But last year I thought thinking a lot about it because I really love acting(even though I never been through acting classes) .. But i can stand in front of the mirror for hours and just playing different roles ( I know I sound crazy as ****) but thats me. The problem is that I live in Denmark, but I really want to go to United States to an Acting School and study as long as it takes, because I want to be acting in movie or TV Shows. I did not think of being an actor just because i was lazy in school. The whole thing of being an actor has always been there, just something I never took serious.. And I think it is the right thing for me, and I hope I am talented enough... Plus I never said I thought it was an easy thing... biggestthingsinceslicedbread > Please do not tell me you're an professional actor, when you're not.

It does sound like you would be good at acting but I wouldn't jump into it. See if you can find some group that puts on plays around your area (around here there are churches that will put on shows as well as small theaters that have open auditions for anyone interested) and try to get a part. Do a play w/ some group and when it's all over then decide if you like it enough to peruse it for a career. As far as colleges, there are plenty of good ones in New York though it will be hard for you to get into a good one since you've been in a different school system and since you don't have acting experience so you may have to settle for a small school at first but if you do well your first year or two you'll be able to transfer to a better college at that point. Good luck!
2 :
Whatever you do, please don't be an actor because you were lazy in school. Do it because there is nothing else you would rather do. You need to be an actor. You will get your butt kicked if you come to the states and you want to be an actor because it "seems like fun". It's a lot of work. Being self employed is no walk in the park. On that note, you do sound promising for an actor. Take a few classes, be in a few productions, then see what you want to do with your life. Also, you can think about theatre schools in London. They are well known for good acting too.
3 :
If you do go to the U.S. study in either LA or NY. The best schools are there. -Margie Haber Studios in LA has a cool international program. They're also THE BEST for coldreading/auditioning. www.Margiehaber.com -TVI Studios (LA/NY) has a lot of international students come through. Brown -Playhouse West -Upright Citizen's brigade -Hey, I Saw Your Commercial! -Stuart K. Robinson Questionable Schools -Strasberg Institute-The one in L.A. banks on the great teacher's name, has nothing to do with the Master's teachings, and is a factory for immigrants to get a green card in their year-long programs. Scammy Schools to Avoid (Overpriced and false promises) -John Robert Powers-Banks on the name of a very famous and DEAD agent. They say that Lucille Ball, John Wayne, and many other famous actors went to the school, when NONE of them did! So you see, they use bait and switch tactics. -John Casablancas-The franchises have been known for unethical business practices and really have nothing to do with the founder's original intentions. -Barbizon-It was legit back in the 70s and 80s. Now these franchises have been known for unethical business practices and false promises.
4 :
Most universities in the US have theatre programs available. If you've never acted before but want to try, you can take introduction classes in most universities, to see if you want to give it a shot. Acting as a profession is exceptionally difficult to do successfully, and I believe that planning on being an actor without any prior experience is a risky choice in a mean business. I'd first suggest taking a general acting class anywhere. It doesn't need to be at a university, though it may. If you enjoy it and feel like you could continue acting for the rest of your life, then keep taking classes and working on your craft! And audition audition audition. =) As for specific schools, you can go to almost any college and get a general theatre degree. If you want a school with a really great theatre reputation, check out USC, UCLA, NYU, Julliard, Emerson... There's a lot of lists online. Many of these schools require strong academics as well as a resume, so be aware of that. There are also conservatory programs available, such as AMDA (though AMDA's reputation is varied) which focus entirely on performance and don't care about academics. I personally support a university where you can get a decent education (just in case acting doesn't work out), but that's just my opinion.

Use there web site to find out the requirements . You seem to know the rest, the website will give you the information or a contact to get the ball rolling. Don't forget you will need a to get a education visa which may take some time .
2 :
It is not to late to take your SAT's take them when they are offered. After taking the SAT's and getting your results back then start applying colleges in the United States. At most colleges they have on-line application forms or they provide forms for you to print out. They will tell you to mail your high school transcripts in and there is also an application fee which usually ranges from $25 to $50 USD. There are many wonderful colleges to choose from in the United States. Brown University is considered an Ivy League School. You might also try some smaller private colleges that contain really good Business programs, such as, Ashland College and Mount Vernon Nazarene University. There student populations aren't as diverse and they look forward to having foreign students.

How many schools or school districts are there in the USA

How many schools or school districts are there in the USA?
I am trying to put a number on the number of schools or districts in the USA because I sell my product to all the schools in California. All the schools in the nation need these safety devices.
Engineering - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
I suggest you divide the population of the U.S. by the population of California, and use that ratio to calculate schools in the U.S. based on your knowledge of the number of schools in California. There is no really accurate count available and it is different depending on how you classify districts and schools, whether you include private schools, what age groups you include, etc.
2 :
295 school districts in Indiana...that DOES NOT count private/catholic/christian etc schools
3 :
Official state districts vary wildly - at one point Iowa and Nebraska each had hundreds, far more that more populous states like Illinois or Ohio because there was a small school every mile in every direction. On the other hand, in Dallas County where I live, there are parts of 8 or 10 major districts plus several catholic and baptist, plus several evangelical private, etc., while some of the 250 counties in Texas has just one district. Depending on what your product is, the principal of a school may be able to purchase it or only superintendents may be able to approve purchase or the board of trusties or the state or the fire marshal. A simple Google Search on 'school district statistics' brought up several organizations dedicated to such data like this http://www.google.com/search?q=school+district+statistics&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

2 :
I think the total number of years you studied matters. For example,in USA you have a total of 12 years (after which you'd finished High-school, you'd be 18 years old when you'd finish high-school) of school and if you get the diploma you can go to university or college.

what do you think about Nursing school

what do you think about Nursing school ?
PLease , I want advice and general things about nursing school in USA....I'm gonna apply for collage and I choice Nursing what do you think about it, I read in some sites it's number ten in top jobs in the world may be one day be 11 or 12 do you think it good job being nurse, I don't please help, Thank you for you time .
Higher Education (University +) - 7 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
It is an excellent career! There are so many venues to use your nursing skills from hospitals and nursing homes to in-home and hospices. There will always be a need for nurses. You should go for it especially if you like helping people who are ill.
2 :
I think becoming a nurse is a great idea. You will always have a good job that pays very well. Most people want to be doctors! Some food for thought however: Are you good with people? Do you have good communication skills? Are you patient? Do you get sick if you see blood? When someone beside you throws-up do you also? Do you mind cleaning other peoples poo/pee? Do you like to change sheets? Good luck in you future endeavors...
3 :
Some of the classes are really hard and really competative. In my area (illinois) C's and B's are not good enough to get in a nursing program. plus it's not a carrer that should be entered into lightly. I was going for it then realized that I really don't even like "people" that much. I really just don't think I was cut out for it so I changed my mind. it's usually tough work but the pay is good.
4 :
I think being a nurse is a great job. But I think it takes more than school. I think it takes a certain amount of compassion and patients. You'll be dealing with people that are sick or dieing. If you can't handle that with understanding then nursing isn't for you.
5 :
Being a nurse is a great career, if you're doing it for the right reasons. Of course, the money you make is always important. However, hopefully, you're really good with people and you want to help people as well. When you're in the hospital you can always tell the nurses who actually love their job from the ones who done it for all the wrong reasons. Personally, I found out by the nurse's aid class that I am not the nursing type and that's okay too. I'm glad I found out early and that I'm not going to make some patient's life miserable some day. So to make it short, it's a great career but if the fact it's one of the top 10 jobs in the world is the only reason you're doing it - don't! You and your patients would only be miserable.
6 :
There will continue to be a nursing shortage here in the US for years to come and we need nurses who are bilingual in Spanish, especially in California. I work in Boston now and there aren't that many bilingual nurses. Getting a job right now is pretty easy but nursing school is very rigorous and difficult, so make sure it's what you want to do. The pay and benefits is good especially after working a few years. Anyway, good luck! I'm looking to work in Spain for a few years, so I'm trying to find out how to get certified there. How is the nursing job market over there? Do they really have too many nurses? Chrissy

The best acting school in USA

The best acting school in USA?
Hi!I'm a 23-years-old Italian girl.I'm studying acting in my country but I'd like to do it as well as possible in the USA. Can you suggest me the best American acting schools where I could try to enter in?I know that Yale has a good drama department and that in Los Angeles there is the Strasberg Institute but I have no idea about which is the best one.Since those schools cost a lot I'd like to invest my money in the best way and of course if you know how to reach subseed please tell me! Thank you very much

The Yale School of Drama and Juilliard are definitely among the most acclaimed, however they are very selective and very expensive. There are several conservatories throughout the country: The Stella Adler Conservatory, the Actors Studio, the HB Studio, etc. My advice would be don't go to a place just because it's the 'best' or just because of the name. Go to a place where you will feel comfortable and with an atmosphere and teaching methods that best benefit you. Visit some places, do some research, talk to students, and get a feel for how they teach the craft before you make a decision.

What's the normal school / college day in USA start finish

What's the normal school / college day in USA start finish ?
I wathced a programme last night and i'm sure the kids were getting up at 6am for school, just made me wonder what time is usual to start and finish school in the states and is college the same ? in the UK the usual start is 9am and finish 3pm that should read Watched, as in saw, vieweed etc.... how's that work with students picking the schedule, surely they can only go to lessons when they are being held...or is this another question all together.
Other - Education - 7 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
well college is typically 10am-2pm but your scheduling i totally up to you
2 :
Elementary, middle, and high school start at 8:00 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m. College doesn't have a set schedule. The students pick their own schedule.
3 :
In rural areas some times the schools start as early as 7am (which would mean kids may get up as early as 6am.) This is often because a school system doesn't have enough school buses for all the schools (elementary/middle/high schools) to start at the same time. High school starts the earliest most of the time because that way older siblings can get home in enough time to watch the younger ones if their parents aren't home. In college it is completely different. Schedules are made by individual students and can be very variable.
4 :
For college it all depends on your schedule, because some people will sign up for later classes and what-not. My high school day was from 8 AM-2:40 PM. Most schools will start between 7:45-8:30 (some earlier, later) and end between 2:30-3:15 (also could be earlier or later). It all depends on the school, but that's how most American schools are.
5 :
It depends where people go to school in the US. For me, in high school, classes started at 8:10 a.m. and I got out at 3:00 p.m. I had 7 classes a day, and 2 semesters. For college, it all depends on the classes you take. I take 4 classes Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and they last from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. On tuesdays I take one class from 2:30 p.m.- 3:45 p.m. On Thursdays I have a class from 9:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m., plus my same one I take on tuesdays. I know some people in high school whose classes start at 7:00 a.m. Hope this info helps!
6 :
In my senior year in high school I had to be there at 7 am. Like I wasn't all ready unmotivated enough. Needless to say I was late alot
7 :
Most school in the US start at 8am and end at 3pm. Getting up at 6am to get read for school is not unusual here. Lots of kids around where I live have 30 minute to 1 hour bus rides to school, so that's one reason they have to get up so early. As for college, Classes are 1 to 1.5 hours long start sometime between 8am and noon. Then night classes start up at 6pm and run till 9pm. There are classes that start up at other times, just not very many.

Barak Obama is a Muslim who studied at a fundamentalist Islamic school. Is the USA ready for Musilm President

Barak Obama is a Muslim who studied at a fundamentalist Islamic school. Is the USA ready for Musilm President?
Barak Obama seems to have inspired many Americans as a road to change, but with Muslim Radicals perpetrating acts of violence against the west, is the USA prepared to vote in a man who is not only a Muslim but studied at a known fundementalist Islamic school? Can this be reconciled with America's security? If any one cares to check - Obama may not be registered as a Muslim, his father, a Kenyan Muslim was, Obama DID study at a Madrasah, what one studies at a madrasah is Islam. I have no wish to denigrate Islam or Obama, his name is a very Islami & Arabic name "Barak" meaning blessing/s. As to how peaceful Islam is as a religion, there are several passages that in fact urge the destruction (killing) of the unbeliever. Christians in the medieval age also killed "infidels" and heretics, but the New Testament enjoins them to love every one including their enemies. The word Islam or Muslim has nothing to do with peace, it has a very simple meaning "submission." If you read the Qoran, it leaves no room for any form of law or societal difference but covers and restricts every act of daily living. Can one who is a believer in or influenced by Islam lead a western secular democratic nation with separation of state and church. Also many 1000s of Muslims study at Christain Schools.

2 :
I don't believe that Obama is muslim! However, I believe I've heard it said before and maybe it's time that people cleared the air of the gossip. I think if Obama was muslim it would have come out way before now and it should be discussed about how these kinds of rumers get started. Thanks
3 :
Barack Obama studied at Fransiskus Asisi Elementary School, Indonesia. It's a christian school, not fundamentalist islamic school. I know that coz I am from Indonesia. He is a Christian, United Chruch of Christ, and I am a Roman Catholic.
4 :
Please obviously you have intelligence, you can write..Obama attended a none sectarian school....one in which there were Muslims and Christians. the information you have was first reported in fox news and was proved a false report ! The information was a propaganda ploy by the conservative right...If you wish to spread disinformation you are nothing but a political bastard ...no better than the radical Muslims your insecurity dictates to fear, perhaps your misinformed, if so I suggest you do your own research..but when you find out the Truth,...break your self from the hate mongers and take a walk on the other side...the grass isn't always greener but your mind is free !
5 :
Obama is NOT a Muslim, he is a Christian and has been for a long time. People are trying to spread this rumor so "smear" him. I believe his father was a Muslim and his mother a Christian. Barak attended first grade in a public school in SE Asia (Malaysia, Indonesia?) which was run by Muslims, but it wasn't a fundamentalist school... it's common there for schools to be run by the church. Barak Obama is no threat to American security, but ignorance and prejudice are.
6 :
Many Americans have accepted Islam as a good religion. Thus, Barack Obama might win as the first US Muslim President. VOTE for your choice as US President on my 360 degrees blog and know if Obama will likely win.
7 :
Barak Obama is a Christian who attended a non-religous Indonesian public school as a very young child. Given that your facts are so far removed from reality, and that this ignorant rant has been debunked in every form of media the world over - it leaves you with a choice of admitting to being either a liar or a moron. Which is it?
8 :
No way.
9 :
He's a Muslim? That news to me, perhaps you have some proof to offer, especially proof of this "known fundementalist Islamic school".
10 :
I think the front page of Yahoo! Answers should say, "Barack Obama is not a Muslim, so please stop assuming that he is."
11 :
What's your point, that Obama is to be judged by the religion of his father? How low can you go? Barack Obama, albeit inexperienced, is an American to his core. He studied abroad, big deal, a lot of people do. America's security is not threatened, but even if it is, I'd rather America's security be threatened than its fundamental foundation of freedom and equality.

high school in USA like? fun.

high school in USA like? fun?
hi im from latin america from a private school, i was thinking of going to the US for a couple of months but i wouold like to know a bit more about your high schools, are they like in the movies (because i dont really think so..) im talking about public schools btw. here we have to use uniforms, each grade has like 50-60 students so there arent many people in school. everybody knows at least 2 languages, and school is pretty hard (im in the IB program) so in comparison how are the american high schools like (i had a friend who told me it was very easy, or at least the high school she went to was), also what about the social life (nght life here is VERY FUN there are lots of parties, we can drink alcohol, smoke, do whatever we want as long as our parents dont catch us), so tell what your hgh school is like, also the people thanks

well my schools the same, but it all depends on what school you'll go to. a lot o the bigger public schools are just like the ones in movies with the cliques and the bullying and all that, but not a lot of them. those are usually the schools that dont focus on education as much and everythings really easy. but they do have sports and clubs and lots of fun things to do and join, and ass long as you don't get on people's bad side, mostly everyone is nice. most of the stuff will be extremely easy to you, but there are schools that a lot harder. and we tend to be kind of immature so yeah. but most foreign exchange students are usually treated with respect but some are ignored. this one girl came in from china and i think she didnt speak english or something because she didnt have a lot of freinds. but then this girl from russia came and everyone loved her sooo yeah if you're nice nd fun you'll most likely make lots of freinds. guys here love latin girls if you know what i mean oh and yeah in america most teens party and drink but people might think you're your trashy if you smoke. some people do though. some people do drugs but there usually the ones that people don't like and think are trash. but we do have a age limit, 21, so many people get fake ID's, but I dont reccomend it. you can go clubbing if you look old, but most people just go to eachothers house parties and stuff. night life is probly more excitingg where you're from i guess. my schools smaller so everyone knows everyone and plus its a magnet school so the stuff we learn is one grade advanced. i think you'd have fun as long as yyou opick a good school in a good area, because lots of public schools have pregnant teens and drugs and gang violence and all that. good luck :)
2 :
It's pretty much the same. except its very easy. Where I'm from there aren't any bullies like you see in movies. There's some people who can't take a joke though who might think we're making fun of them. I go to a small school and have 140 kids in my grade, in the school everyone knows each other but theres still like pregnancies and stuff. Intercity school, like in los angeles or something could have a couple thousand kids each grade. Those school are prolly intense with the social cliques and stuff. Nobody in public school has to wear a uniform, You can wear pretty much anything you want, but most people just dress normal with a some jeans and a t-shirt or something. Public school here is sooo easy, you have no homework and can get a 3.4 gpa easy by just sliding by. You take your basic math, english, gym, science, foreign languange etc. Its the same classes just easier Your social life can be fun if you make it fun. Drugs and alcohol are illegal under 21, i don't know what the age is in latin america cuz I went to germany and I could drink no problem. It was legal and everything. But our parties are the same way if you have some friends. Most girls in public school are easy, just get em drunk and they'll do anything. Its very fun. You should come. If you know how to party already you'll definitely have a lot of friends and a lot of fun at america.
3 :
Yes, High School in the United States is much, much easier that high schools overseas. The students here are not nearly as mature as what you are used to. They are disruptive in class, for the most part uneducated (by your standards) and bullying is common. In most schools in small town America exchange students are either treated like royalty or completely ignored. However night life is almost nonexistent, with school sports taking a priority. It is nothing like television. Hope this helps. Students do party, without their parents finding out, but it is very sedate compared to what you are used to.

Yes, go to scholorships.com I think. Just type in the keywords on google or yahoo search. Or, you can search on the website for a specific college you want and call and talk with a academic counselor or enrollment counselor. I am out of high school now but that is what I did and an enrollment counselor led me through the ENTIRE process of filling out forms for Student Aid and everything. Just make sure you in full understanding of what you are getting into. Always ask for Grants, because with student Aid you have to pay it back. They will lead you through whatever you need to do and fill out. Searching early is great because you have time to decide what college you want to go to.

You need a bachelor's degree (usually a 4 year degree), a clean record (you will be fingerprinted), a teaching license, and a green card (or whatever is required) if you are not a citizen. It is 'best' to get the teaching license while getting your bachelors. I did not, but I survived. As far as how much one makes, it depends on the school district and the city etc. I live in Colorado and the beginning teacher salary for school districts is around 30k starting. It doesn't matter (at least in COLO) if you teach Kindergarten, 5th grade, 12th grade. You earn the same.
2 :
go to school and get a degree. $30k after a couple of years.
3 :
Degree in education. You then have 5 years to get a master's degree. (NY) Suburbs of NYC start at 45,000 a year with a bachelor's degree. Get a master's and about 10 years experience and you'll be in the 6 digits.

You want to become a police officer in the US? or in the UK? Law school, in the US, is where you go to become a lawyer, as another poster said. In the US, to become a police officer, you often either need to go to a college (that's what they call "university" in the US. It's not the same as a British "college") and take a certain number of classes, or else have served in the US military, and then apply to the police academy. I do not know if a foreign national without authorization to work in the US can get into a police academy here, but they certainly can not be hired onto a US police force. In other words, even if it's possible for you to go to a US police academy for training, you can't be hired. I am not sure, if you train at a police academy in the US, if you can work on the police force in the UK. It's possible that, to work in the UK, you'd need to train in the UK. I've found some info on how to become a UK police officer. I am not in the UK, so I don't know how accurate this is, but it's a place for you to start: http://www.policeoracle.com/careers/howto_become_a_police_officer.html
