No safer or more dangerous than any other occupation. Less dangerous than border patrol, these days. Not all mental people have guns. Very few, actually.

School in USA

School in USA?
I live in Sweden! Is the school in USA like in movies! There are the popular people and the unpopular people! The popular people is often rich and beautiful but stupid! And the unpopular people is smart but a little bit shy! Have always wondered if it was like that!

95 percent of it is true! The so called nerds are always the intelligent ones who move to bigger plans.
2 :
Hi! Well I go to high school here in the USA, and it all depends on your school. It's not like it is on the TV shows like on Nickelodeon. Have you ever watched MTV's True Life? It's sort of like that. I've been to 8 different schools since I've started going, (all in the USA), and each one is different. You have the nice kids, the mean kids, the kids on sports, and etc. Not all popular people are rich and beautiful but stupid. I think that's show on the show Sweet Sixteen, but those kids are rich and snobby. Some are nice. I'm not popular by no means. I just started a new high school, and I'm shy but really smart. So, what I'm trying to say is, you have many different types of people in all schools. The shows don't portray the schools in the USA correctly, they only have a grain of truth. I hope you understand what I was trying to say. It must be really cool to live in Sweden. I go to high school, so I know how it is. It has it's ups and downs. Hope I helped, bye! :)
3 :
Yes. It is totally like that. Isn't it like that in Sweden, too? Everywhere?
4 :
school drool
5 :
No. School isn't like you see in movies and such. There are the similarities, but the movies have everything too stereotyped. It generally depends on the location and the individuals who go to the particular school. I've seen plenty of smart and middle-class popular people. And, I've also seen plenty of unpopular people who are stupid and most certainly not shy.
6 :
Dude!!! YOU Nail it!!! Most of the public School ARE!!!! School here is a JOKE most Do not prepare you For College!!! Yes the Their are the Popular People!!! Who when I was in School Most Everyone Wants to be ONE!!! Trust Me I was One!!! But I had NO Money!!! Money is Not the End of All but Boy it can Really Make the Differance! I unlike most of them Understood we all have to Get along!!! I'm Native American at a Mostly White School and Mexican ---Hispanic- Black!!! I Understood that we all Have to Work together!!! Something that Lead to My Sucess!!! I was A Peace Maker most of the Time But Would Be the Warrior When Need!!! I wish I Could Say that I never Had to Be the Warrior!!! And When I say that I Used my Hands!!! I think you Understand!!! I had Friends all sides of the Fence!!! And What is the Most Funny, Most of the Popular People Work for the Unpopular!!! That's Why ONE always needs to Give Respect to All People!!! Because Life is a Circle!!! I LOOK Back with a Smile at High School, Because College Was Another World!!! And You Started to Understand How the World Really Works!!! Wahoo!!!

Your parents would have to enroll you in a boarding school and pay for it You would have to obtain a student study visa. You would not be allowed to work with that visa. You could not sign up for an apartment as you are too young. After you arrived they would figure out what grade you are in, that is the least of your problems.

How can any American be proud of the USA when he or she is sent home from school for wearing a USA shirt

How can any American be proud of the USA when he or she is sent home from school for wearing a USA shirt?
The future does not look good for the country. What a sad day in America when the First Amendment doesn't protect an American from wearing Red, White, and Blue.

And the ACLU says....
2 :
We can change this in a generation.
3 :
Yeah it is sad indeed. Are the liberals going to push for mandatory celebrations of other countries holidays now?
4 :
These filthy libs are abusing our children now about our country that they hate so much.
5 :
they cant. i plan on calling the school and giving my two cents. the ironic thing is that 2 or 3 of the kids who had the shirts were half mexican
6 :
I am proud of my country, not the liberal teachers unions. The principal involved needs a dose of discipline.
7 :
It stopped protecting free speech for high school students with the Bong Hits for Jesus case that went to the supreme court last year. The Case was Morse versus Frederick.
8 :
Good question. I guess it is because the man who sent them home is a flaming Hispanic racist!
9 :
Maybe the kid was acting like an ash hole. His parents are probably proud.
10 :
I have the feeling something else is behind this story. No principal is that stupid.
11 :
1. I highly doubt this actually happens (unless the red, white and blue shirt has any sort of offensive message on it) 2. My right to wear or not wear clothing doesn´t make me less proud of the USA. 2a.Current and Historic foreign policy makes me less than proud of the USA. 2b. Continued economic inequality in the U.S. makes me less than proud of the USA 2c. U.S. arrogance as a world power makes me less than proud of the USA 3. If they´re wearing a Red White and Blue shirt to school, do you think they are lacking in national pride?
12 :
Be carefull..Al Sharpton & jesse jackson will get mad...
13 :
I can't jump to a conclusion on this one yet. The reasoning given by the principal made my head spin. At the same time, though, I think the boys wore them to agitate people. I think they probably were looking for drama-just didn't think it would get this much attention. We don't know that they didn't harass others because it was Cinco de Mayo. What we do know is that wearing a shirt with the American flag on it shouldn't get a kid suspended. I don't care if it was UN day at the school and these were the only Americans there. Being proud of your flag isn't offensive. If it is, perhaps those that took offense need to look at why they need to play the victim card. Cinco de Mayo is, to most Americans, a reason to have margaritas at happy hour. Most people in Mexico don't even celebrate it. So that Mexican students may have been offended makes me wonder if they too were looking for drama, or really understood what Cinco de Mayo was all about. I'd love to hear the whole story. If the flag-shirt-wearers were truly innocent, they deserve an apology. If the principal was merely trying to avoid a confrontation that could have easily gotten out of control, we need to ease up on him for that. At the same time, he then needs to evaluate security at his school and race relations in the school.

Most schools in the US are free, if you live in the district. But you have to live there to attend. There are also private schools, which anyone can attend, even from overseas. Those are not free - those charge tuition.

Which schools in USA train sports coaches and trainers

Which schools in USA train sports coaches and trainers?
Training of sports persons is a highly complex process.A trainer or a coach has to be versatile in many aspects like kinseology, nutrition, sports medicene, psychology and so on. While experts in various fields can be picked up there has to be one person who besides acting as a coordinator needs to be specialist in a particular field. It is therefore necessary that such a person must have undergone somekind of a formal training to become qualified as a coach. My next Question would be on the whole gamut of training of sports persons in USA from high school stage to their becoming elite sports persons.

In the U.S., doctors are required to earn a bachelor's (undergraduate) degree before entering medical school, and this normally takes four years. During the undergraduate education, the future doctor takes a series of pre-medical courses and then an entrance exam, called the MCAT, for med school. However, you cannot actually study medicine on the undergraduate level in the U.S., you can only take the pre-medical classes. Med school itself takes another four years. American physicians earn a graduate degree in medicine, a doctorate in medicine, whereas in some other countries, the degree is a bachelor's in medicine. Following medical school, physicians do a hospital residency for training in a specific field of specialization. Depending on the field, the residency usually lasts three or more years. The U.S. has many medical schools -- too many to list here. You can look at the site below:

I want to know abt medical and dental schools in usa

I want to know abt medical and dental schools in usa?
I'm a B.D.S from India.I want to study in medical school in U.S.A. Can i get admission, wat s d procedure. Which exams I've to appear? Fees? Which r good medical schools?
Studying Abroad - 2 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
you have to apply to the schools. fees are different for each school. pick me as best answer, i am indian!
2 :
First you have to have completed a 4-year degree from a university. If so, ask your university advisor to help you through the application process. Medical schools will evaluate you on your college grades, extracurricular activities, and personal characteristics. Most also require you to take the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT), which analyzes your knowledge of the basic sciences, your reading and writing abilities, and your problem-solving skills. You also should consult the resource book, Medical School Admission Requirements, (MSAR)published by the Association of American Medical Colleges, which provides the specific admission requirements of each U.S. and Canadian medical school. Entrance requirements at most medical schools include completion of course work in biology, mathematics, chemistry, physics, and English. But keep your undergraduate experience well rounded by also studying humanities and the social sciences. The ideal physician understands how society works and can communicate and write well. Extracurricular experiences also are important. You may want to volunteer at a local hospital or clinic to gain practical health care experience. How do I choose among 125 medical schools? Ask yourself these questions: Do I prefer a small or large school? Do I like a large class or a small class? Am I interested in a career in research, in clinical practice in academic medicine? While every school offers opportunities to prepare for careers in all areas, the variety of curricular experience varies from school to school. Try to select schools that fit best your career goals. What kind of financial resources will I need to attend medical school? What are the costs? What types of financial aid are available at the schools I am considering? Most people, about 90 percent, apply to medical school at the end of their junior year in college and begin their medical studies after graduation. Others finish college and work for several years before beginning their medical education. Still others participate in "early admissions" or other collaborative programs between undergraduate colleges and medical schools, through which students with a demonstrated level of maturity and academic achievement can proceed to medical education at an accelerated pace. How to apply for medical school? Thanks to the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS), applying to medical school is not as complicated as you might think. Of the 125 accredited medical schools in the United States, 117 participate in the AMCAS program. To apply to any of these 117 schools, fill out an application, and send it with one set of your official transcripts to AMCAS. After the service verifies the information you provide, it distributes your application to the school(s) you have selected. For schools not participating in AMCAS, contact the admissions office directly for application procedures and materials. What will the schools look for and how do they decide? The key factors affecting acceptance to medical school include the following: Successful completion of required undergraduate courses Grade point average Performance on the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) Extracurricular activities - especially those reflecting public or health-related service, volunteer work, and other evidence of your initiative Letters of recommendation from undergraduate health professions advisors and faculty members as well as physicians and other members of the health professions, community leaders, and other individuals who have employed you or supervised your volunteer experience Interviews with medical school admissions committees. The MCAT is administered twice a year. You should take the MCAT in the spring of your junior year of college or in the fall of your senior year. Is getting into medical school as tough as they say? No question about it-medical schools are looking for the finest minds and the most motivated students who have a strong and demonstrated interest in working with people. It takes a special type of person to even dream of a career in medicine and it takes hard work and commitment to make it to medical school. Today, only about one-half of those who apply are accepted.

It will be the easier to go on a student exchange through your home university. This way, you may be able to take classes in Korean. It is impossible, though, the graduate from a Korean University and not speak Korean. You have to learn. Good luck.
2 :
the best way to go about it is through university exchanges or those "community" exchanges. with university exchanges, you should check to see if the American uni you go to has a relationship, exhange program with a South Korean university and which one. These exchanges go range from a semester to a few years, depending on your university. The "community" exchange, also lasts from a semester to however long, and you get to stay with home-stays. Both exchanges will require you to learn Korean. They will help you enrol into simple classes. Some of the unis do offer classes in English...but then whats the point of going to study in Korea if all your classes are in english?? The exchanges are partly funded, and so you do have to fork out some of your own money.

are u stupid? usa universtiy is much better than korea

I knew someone that lived in Italy and moved here. He said our schooling is horrible compared to over there. The teachers let us get away with so much like no homework on weekends and no projects. Poorer schools have old outdated books with missing pages. That's for public school. Private schools tend to be a little different because they're paying for the education. If you're interested, schools and families in the area have hosted teenagers from other countries for the high school that I went to. I'm not sure which program they went through, but they came here from other countries to live for a year. You should look into it if you're really interested.

Hey! Love you name by the way! Go twilight! lol! BUt America has EXCELLENT schools. Universities are amazing and grade schools are also great. We all really learn a ton. Once you get into the 5th grade or so, you start going to different teachers for each f you classes. For example, for math class you will go to a qualified math teacher who has a degree in mathematics. Same for science, language arts, and social studies. You also have special classes like computer, physical education (P.E.), art, and music.
13 :
kindergarten: draw, spill paint, pee your pants, be annoying, etc. elementry: learn useless facts about animals, basic math, learn reading, etc middle: more useless facts, science, harder math, easy books, tests, etc high school: many, many more useless facts, complicated & unreliable math and reading, pointless p.e. games, and even more useless facts. So what im basically trying to say is that all you really need to know is basic math, reading, and common sense. In America you get 12 years of useless and pointless education that you will never have use of in real life.
14 :
It all depends on which county you go to school in. For example, I go to school in Miami Dade county, which encompasses the entire Miami metropolitan area. I go to a brand new public high school here. The school is very good. Although the school is only a year old, the principal is awesome and very cool and it is already a B school, which means it is one letter away from the perfect A. I love my school. However, I do have to comment on school food: it's bad. It's usually cold and tasteless. They don't put salt in any foods, so the only way to eat something good is to buy it from the vending machine or snack bar.
15 :
Schools in USA give a great Education to students, you just need to find the school that suits you. You should also search schools in certain areas, there are some neighboorhoods that I would not reccommend moving to.

Try the film schools. The top tier of film schools include UCLA and USC. However, there may be a college/university with a film school near you. Also, local film organizations are a great asset.

How much money do Public School districts make thanks to undocumented immigrants

How much money do Public School districts make thanks to undocumented immigrants?
Schools in USA love Money$$$$ they do not give a s/*/i/t about education. They just love their checks! We all know that Public School districts make a lot of money thanks undocumented Immigrants! why do you trolls deny it?
Immigration - 13 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Since most don't own houses and pay property taxes very little.
2 :
Public schools lose money thanks to illegal immigrants.
3 :
They don't make money on these illegals' children. The cost of building addition schools, equiping them and hiring extra teachers, bi-linguals as well, far exceed the cost of the little they get from the illegal aliens.
4 :
illegals do not make money for school, actually they take away from the schools and from the education of citizens children. these illegals and anchor babies should not even be allowed in our public school systems. California schools are begging for money because they are so far in debt over trying to educate these people. much less teachers do not want to have these illegals in the schools. they raise violence, do not assimilate, and have to cater to the non English speaking ones. I turn illegals who attend my school in all the time. Anonymous phone calls have rid us of several illegal families in my area. California's nearly 3 million illegal immigrants cost taxpayers nearly $9 billion each year, according to a new report released last week by the Federation for American Immigration Reform, a Washington, D.C.-based group that promotes stricter immigration policies. Educating the children of illegal immigrants is the largest cost, estimated at $7.7 billion each year, according to the report. Medical care for illegal immigrants and incarceration of those who have committed crimes are the next two largest expenses measured in the study, the author said.
5 :
Property taxes pay for public schools. Do you own a house?
6 :
A LOT!! Here in Phoenix the school is given so much money per child attending that school. They would cease to exist without them!
7 :
Very little, as very few illegal aliens (not undocumented immigrants) own homes. These illegal alien trespassers cost the citizens of America billions of dollars for schooling, prisons, medicaid, housing and other social spending which they get legally and illegally. Do some research! The Costs of Illegal Aliens: http://immigrationcounters.com/ The cost to local taxpayers of illegal aliens: http://www.fairus.org/site/PageServer?pagename=research_localcosts
8 :
Listen pedro, just once, would you? This will clear up your ill conceived notions and maybe you can speak more intelligently about the subject moving forward... PROPERTY TAXES pay 80% of schools cost..... When even 2 families of illegals live in one house( thats conservative by the way, more like 4 families to a house) You then get one unit of tax money coming in and 2 units of families utilizing the school system funding. You want to see schools improve.. Tell the illegals to stop living like schools of fish in two bedroom houses Same principal applies to rented properties.. Most fed funding goes to free schools and after school programs. Thanks to the illegals those are now broke as well..... Now reflect on what you've been taught..... Its funny that you think you can wax intellectual about the subject though.. I bet you cant tell me one local city ordinance for the town or city you live in... Can you?
9 :
Public schools lose millions due to little illegal alien kids, welfare, free lunches etc. You don't know crap about how the education system works.
10 :
Wet-backs ruin our schools, and beaners don't pay taxes, only a mexi thinks paying rent is paying taxes LOL.
11 :
Well Einstein where do you think that money comes from? It isn't Mexico and the majority of it isn't from illegal, immoral criminal invaders. It's from good hard working Americans. It costs approximately $4,000 per student in Phoenix, AZ. Property tax in Phoenix, AZ (assuming home ownership): $150,000 x .013 [1.3%] = $1,950 (How many illegal, immoral, criminals own their own house?) In other words a criminal family with one child costs the city of Phoenix, AZ about $2,000. And they usually pop out a bunch more! If I give you $2000 and take $4000 you consider this a GOOD thing? Meet me at my bank I can give you a lot of money if I can take money back at that rate!
12 :
If illegals are the only ones bringing in cash what happen in Calif ? Teachers are being laid off by the thousands. And if AZ is doing so great why is the state facing double-digit percentage gaps in their 2010 fiscal year budgets leading the nation in debt.Apparently all this cash you speak of isn't saving anyone or anything.AZ and Calif are proof that illegals are more of a burden than asset
13 :
illegals pay part of the property tax when they rent, but it is a small percentage of the whole. In other words if the property tax is $80,000 divide that by 100 apts and each unit pays $800 compared to a home owner who pays 2 or 3 times that amount. Second illegal children require remedial classes and English Language Classes which come at a higher cost per student than regular classes. Schools are now being required to hire hispanic teachers even if they are not certified. Hispanics need them as role models so they can succeed. In other words if a hispanic doesn't tell them and show them they can succeed they will fail. Stupid! So the real answer to your question is nothing. School districts are losing money trying to educate illegals. States with high levels of illegals are going bankrupt, or didn't you bother to read that report.

the easy option is for u to write to some american families to sponsor or sort-of adopt u. UK is less likely to have this. if on your own, it will be very expensive and if u can afford it, apply directly to the school u wanna go to.

I am an american born. But i was raised in Egypt and my native language is Arabic and i haven't gone back to the US since i was a- six month old child . Now that i graduated from college and want to join graduate school in usa . Am i treated the same way as other americans when it comes to college admissions or am i treated as international students? I would guess international, as you haven't lived in the states since you were young. All your address and stuff would be in Egypt. I'm just guessing, you can contact a potential school for questions, though I'm not sure they'll be able to answer it. good luck!
2 :
To be considered as being a citizen of the U.S. I'm guessing you MUST have a birth certificate to prove where you were born, and maybe other forms of identification to show you are the one on the certificate. Good luck.

What's the best luthier school in the USA

What's the best luthier school in the USA?
I am interested in becoming a luthier and was curious what the best, or most respected luthier schools are in the US. I am interested in acoustic, archtop and upright bass... i know that is a weird combination but maybe that will help you give me some options. I have heard that also just an apprenticeship us the way to go... what do you guys think? Thanks in advance for you time and help.

Few of us will know much about this discipline so I will post some links I found by using search engines Before searching this word, I thought you may actually mean Lutheran, as in the sect of Christianity that helped establish the Protestant revolution. The rest of the question establishes that you meant luthier-exactly as you posted and this is a well composed question. You may want to Yahoo! G***gle or B*ng search the word luthier, luthier education and other related topics including the Wikipedia article on the subject or stringed instrument manufacture, craftsmanship, ect. I suspect, based on the second link that I provided that the apprenticeship is the way to go. If I wanted higher education, I would suspect that a school of music may be a great place to find information, such as Julliard http://www.juilliard.edu/ I found these links http://www.luth.org/ This second link appears particularly helpful http://www.wikihow.com/Become-a-Luthier

What are some good and hopefully AFFORDABLE College level USA schools for doing voice over and animation work

What are some good and hopefully AFFORDABLE College level USA schools for doing voice over and animation work?
Hello everyone, Where can I look online for a list of College level schools in or near the USA that offer instruction on doing voice over and recording voices for animation work? Perhaps there are some Universities or Tech schools that are well regarded for this kind of career? Thank you.

There are many places that teach you how to do Voice over work. Like: http://www.voiceoneonline.com/ or http://www.radioconnection.com/ However having myself a few VO spots under my belt, I would suggest just going for it! Gather together commercials from TV or Radio even film, characters that you do, and put together your own Demo. If you are rehearsed you can usually put something together in a studio in minimal time. Some recording studios around my area charge as little as $25 /hr. So, for under $100 you could come out with a great demo to send to radio stations, agents, and advertising agency's in your area. I really believe that there is power in doing. Go, out meet people who are doing it now. Ask them questions. You honestly don't need school! Good Luck! Let me know how it goes!

Can you get a High School diploma in USA without learning about Evolution

Can you get a High School diploma in USA without learning about Evolution?

Religion & Spirituality - 13 Answers

1 :
Definetly.
2 :
In certain, more backwards, backwoods areas yes. Certainly not where I live (california).
3 :
Yeah. It isn't a performance objective in every state. Moreover, there are teachers and districts that ignore their state standards.
4 :
Apparently. High schools exist in Kansas. You learn about it sophomore year here.
5 :
homeskool!
6 :
Depends. I live in California and students are told that just because they teach evolution doesn't mean you have to believe it. Keep that in mind. Also Christian private schools I believe don't teach it.
7 :
I hope you can't get a high school diploma without learning when to use the word 'the' properly.
8 :
The 'Evolution of the species' is a relatively minor side note to genetics and biology. Genetic Variation happens all the time and should be taught everywhere.
9 :
You can get a high school diploma in this country without even knowing how to spell. The United States is one of the dumbest countries in the world, and each year we're getting dumber. And the education systems are being forced to lower the standard for passing grades. Before you know it we'll be flinging poo at each other and texting our homework assignments to the teacher, all in chat speak.
10 :
Yes, unfortunately, there are high schools in the US that don't teach evolution. Some teachers as well ignore the state standards and not teach evolution, which is very bias.
11 :
Unfortunately, it is probably quite possible, which is sad, because evolution is one of the more amazing intellectual breakthroughs of the last several centuries. It has forced people throughout the literate community to reconsider many of their preconceptions. I suppose that there are people who are so terrified of the idea that they would rather be ignorant than understand evolution. I feel sorry for them, because they are letting their fear control and restrict the way they think. Sad. Very sad.
12 :
Absolutely. I was "educated" in the SDA school system through high school and attended Andrews University for 2 years until I had had quite enough. I first came to the powerful and beautiful, and for me, spiritual explanations of evolutionary theory only 6 years ago while first reading "the Blind Watchmaker". This fall I will be attending Western Michigan University to study molecular biology to satisfy a thirst. I am 49.
13 :
yea just dont go to class when they are teaching it and say the reason for your absents is because your religion doesnt believe in evolution

What school in the USA is the best for preparation for TEFL/TESL/TESOL?
I am going to study for TEFL/TESL/TESOL next year. There are so many different colleges, universities and schools throughout the USA. So, it is really difficult to choose one of them to be the best.

As far as i know, universities dont offer TEFL classes, the company rents the room from the schools. If youre considering teaching overseas ( which im sure you are) your best bet is to take a TEFL class where ever you plan on teaching. I was going to take a TEFL course in America, but it didnt come with teaching practice ( practice teaching in a real class room) I took my course in Vietnam where i'm currently teaching right now. Its better to pay a little extra more money to get the teaching experience you need if youre a new teacher. good luck to you

how to apply in a Private boarding school

how to apply in a Private boarding school ?
how to apply a boarding school ? in usa what are the basic procideures for admission in a good boarding school.
Primary & Secondary Education - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Find a school - talk to student administrator - pay the tuition.
2 :
its simple to find a boarding school admission form on internet , via searching on Google like " coed boarding school admission " i found some links u may check i out http://www.westtown.edu/admissions/howtoapply.aspx http://www.westtown.edu/admissions/welcome.aspx this one is for international students
3 :
Go to the schools website. Look under Admissions or something similar. All the info will be there, some even have online applications. Generally for the good schools one starts the application process about a year before you want to attend the school, like the Sept or October the previous year, and visits, interviews, testing, applications, all happen between October and March, with decisions made around March. However, some boarding schools have *rolling* admissions, meaning they'll fill an open space at any time of the year (private day schools usually don't do this). Because of the economy, families may have decided to go a cheaper route, and there may be openings at boarding schools that usually don't have any by now. Look at the websites of boarding schools and all the info specific to that school will be there. Look at the Admissions Calendar for important dates. Also, besides the application, some require a visit to the school, all/most require an interview (sometimes you can be interviewed where you live if it's far from the school), an entrance exam, like the SSAT or sometimes the ISEE, and recommendations from 2 or more current teachers, your transcripts. More boarding schools will take international students than day schools. Some of the top schools have several applications per space, so apply to more than one school. Typically even top students apply to at least 4 - 5 boarding schools. Look for boarding schools here: http://www.boardingschoolreview.com/ http://schools.com/ Good luck.
4 :
Call the school and set up an appointment for a tour. Call the school and ask them to send you one. Then when you go on tour, they can also give you one.

USA High School System

USA High School System?
Can anyone tell me about high school in USA, if I were to attend high school in USA, does it mean I'll start attending college when I'm 19? How well do I have to do to get into UC Berkeley?
Higher Education (University +) - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
You usually graduate from high school when you are 18 and then enter college at 18. Assume to get into UC Berkeley that you have to get the highest grades in the hardest subjects that the high school offers. You can't go wrong with that formula. Oh, and take debate class, preferably in 9th grade and every year thereafter. Very very useful life skill is taught in that class. You may have to argue your way into UC - Berkeley and the practice you get in debate class will be invaluable then!
2 :
You would start attending college when you graduate from high school, which generally happens sometime between the ages of 17 and 19 (when exactly depends upon into which class you would be placed when you moved here). UC Berkeley is a very selective school, and you would have to do very well to be admitted there.
3 :
U.S. high schools are usually 4 years (grades 9-12 with students usually entering 9th grade at age 14-15 and graduating high school after completing the 12th grade at age 17-18). There is no particular advantage to attending high school in the U.S. if you remain on a student visa; students on visas will have to apply to UC schools as international students regardless of where they attended high school. If you are able to obtain permanent residence to the U.S., then attending high school in California will qualify you to apply as an in-state applicant where you will receive priority consideration (against out-of-state and international applicants) and the benefit of lower tuition fees. To prepare for UC schools (including Berkeley), you should complete the a-g requirements (ask your counselor for the approved courses at your California high school or check online at http://www.ucop.edu/doorways/ ), study and do well in your high school courses and standardized tests (SAT and/or ACT, and SAT II), take as many honors and/or AP courses as you can handle, participate in educational preparation programs available at your high school (see a list on my blog), and commit to one or two extracurricular activities in which you develop leadership skills (more is not better, quality is better than quantity). UCs (including Berkeley) will weigh the following components of your application (in the order of importance): 1) your essay (Berkeley publishes a guideline on how to write your personal statement at: http://students.berkeley.edu/files/Admissions/Personal_State_07.pdf ) about your academic achievement, talent or extracurricular activities that highlight your motivation, dedication, and/or initiative to achieve, your potential to contribute to the university, and any special circumstances like hardship; 2) your grades and any grade trends (improvements are better than just maintaining a high GPA); 3) your test scores, including SAT and/or ACT, SAT II; and 4) number of AP courses completed compared to the number of AP courses offered at your high school. Other factors are taken into consideration, but to a lesser extent.

whats the best vet school in usa

whats the best vet school in usa?
im 14 and im trying to think about going to vet school and i was wondering which one is the best vet school besides uc davis .....
Higher Education (University +) - 5 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
uc davis maybe ohio state
2 :
In eight years you may be admitted to one of the approximately 28 vet schools in the US if you have a top college record, veterinary clinic or animal care experience, top test scores, etc. At all of them you will receive a fine education. Most pre-vet students apply to over twelve vet schools and are lucky to be accepted by one of them. It is not usually a question of choosing a "better" one and where you attend will seldom affect your practice unless you want to do research rather than primary care. Tufts University has one of the best research programs.
3 :
Cornell has a great vet school, and it's one of the ivys that's a little bit easier to get into. If you start now, you might be able to get in! Good luck!
4 :
That's really not something you should be asking. There are only 28 vet schools in the entire country. They are all excellent, have very high standards and are extremely competitive. You don't necessarily choose your vet school, rather they choose you. Most schools have some sort of residency requirements. They accept X number of in-state residents and X number of out of state. In most cases, in-state students have more seats than out of state. In some cases, schools have contracts with other states to offer them seats. As a result of this some schools (Davis for example) are impossible to get into unless you meet the residency requirements. You need to find out (and you have plenty of time) if there is a vet school in your state and if not is there one that your state has a contract with. If neither is true, then look at those schools that accept a fairly high number of out of state students. Bottom line here is that all vet schools are excellent programs and you will have no better job prospects by going to UC Davis than by going to Kansas State.
5 :
Cornell. Ivy league vet school.

You have to draw out designs before just randomly designing. Write out measurements and all that. "Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T.) in Manhattan, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Art Institute of California are all considered top programs."
2 :
Bauder College is a small private college in Downtown Atlanta that offers a fashion design program. You should also follow up with checking into Art Institutes throughout the US and of course the epitomy of Fashion Design Schools would be FIT in NYC. Best of luck to you!

Do you think every public school in the USA should start going year round? Why or why not?

Do you think every public school in the USA should start going year round? Why or why not?

Other - Education - 8 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
no because it's just too long. My attention span will never last a whole year. let alone the 10 months of school we already have
2 :
If there was any data to prove that year-round schools performed better on state tests, I'd be up for it. Otherwise, I see no reason for change.
3 :
no, kids need a break to just play and be kids. There's too much focus on cramming alot of info into kids. Summer lets a kid discover and explore the world he/she lives in without adults telling them what to think or study.
4 :
I sure do. As a police officer, it is a proven fact that crime goes up when kids are out of school. So, one good benefit would be that these kids would be in school instead of breaking into peoples houses. Also the whole point that kids had off during the summer was to help with working the farm. Since our society doesn't revolve around helping pa on the farm, we need to keep kids occupied. "Idle hands are the devils playground" or something to that affect.
5 :
no,because kids could get burned out to quick and they should have summer time with family and friends.
6 :
We have year round school systems in Lower Alabama. It's a nine week grading period, with intercessions in between that can range from one week to three weeks during the school year, and then a nine week summer break. I like it, I think it keeps the kids in school instead of on the streets or somewhere else getting into trouble. It aslso keeps them from getting total burn out by having the intercessions inbetween each nine weeks. Most of our private schools have adapted to the year round school schedule as well. My aunt did not like it for her kids, but this was 15 yrs ago when the whole idea began.

I don't know if every public school in the USA should go year round or not, as in some areas it might not be easliy done, i.e. the weather, farming areas, etc. But that said, when I lived in Calif. my kids went to a year round elementary school and it worked great for them and for us. Going year round they didn't forget what they had learned, like kids do over a long summer break. When they have a long summer break, they usually spend the first 4 to 6 weeks re-learning stuff from the past year. Also my kids were in a "Loft" system school, where they rotated from teacher to teacher as needed for their level in a subject. This also was great because some kids are good in reading, but need more help in math for example. A Loft System is where each grade level is in a large room, that separtes off into smaller "pods" for each teacher. This is a great system. Personally, I now prefer to homeschool my kids, as I feel they get a better education at home than in the public schools. And they can learn daily or take breaks when its convenient for our family. Homeschooling is really a great way to teach your kids. You are in control of what they learn, how they learn, and not influenced bad behaviors of other children or even adults. Hope this answers your question. It is a good one. :) :) ***As a side note because I noticed some people maybe have the wrong idea about year round school - you go to school for 9 weeks and then have 3 weeks off. You don't go to school for the whole 12 months

No! I'm biased because I'ma student, but summer is a special time. maybe scools in academic emergency or near it should do this but, not schools that are doing well. Summer gives kids off time to relax. People get to spend time with their families. There's hardly enough time to read independently while you're in school, so people wouldn't get to do that. Students don't forget that much over the summer. At my school we spend about a week on review (maybe two weeks in Math or Latin) and we still learn new things during that time. Teachers like summer break too. It gives them time to be with their familes. To not grade papers. To go on their honeymoons. It's hard to squeeze vacations into the periods that would go with year round school. Maybe a trip to California, but if you're going all the way to Europe, you're going to want to be there for a while. So no, I don't agree.

He probably rides the bus just like everyone else.
3 :
He will go into a special program for English as a second language students
4 :
Most American schools have bi-lingual programs and special bi-lingual teachers that can help with learning English. The child's parent should call or arrange a meeting to find out about the school's bi-lingual program.
